Everything has been throught Sept. 30. I've booked the flight down and my sanity would appreciate booking the trip back! ;) What's the history for how far out they release Ding dates??

I've been waiting for October dings too. Just like you, we have the flight down but not back yet. I'm hoping that maybe sometime this week the October dings will start--or an October fare sale. I booked my end of Sept ding on June 20 then rebooked a cheaper ding for the same flight on July 11 so that's 2 and 1/2 to 3 months out. Hopefully they'll start this week!!

We are in the same boat. I noticed the OP is from Kentucky. We have a flight out of L'ville, but have not booked our return flight yet either. Hoping for an October ding for that soon:)

I'm waiting for the Oct Dings also.....we're booked for both flight down and return, but, $79 down and $99 return. I'd love to get even a $59 Ding fare both ways. Since there are four of us it would save us about $50 per fare once taxes are included.

I'm not so patiently waiting for October.... I have a feeling that my travel dates (Fall Break/Columbus Day week) are going to be Ding-Free :( Many of the flights are already filling up....

travelgoddess,

Who does SW compete with in Detroit? We're having no such luck from PHL...........I can't imagine it's the competition causing no sale fares, though,
because IMO SW's biggest competitor's from PHL are Airtran and USAirways and from what I've seen their prices are competitive with what SW currently has ($79 down and $99 back) so I would think SW would try to fill more seats at a lower price.

A related question: When will SW start booking later than Nov 2?? I'd like to make my airfare home!

Out of Detroit, we have SWA, Airtran, Spirit and NWA offering direct flights to Orlando.

I'm in the same boat as several of you. Booked my flight down (at $79 per person) and need a way back. I get nervous too, so I went through the DING history thread and found out the following (based on flying from CMH to MCO and back). The first DING for October last year from any location going to MCO wasn't until 8/21. The first one for CMH <-> MCO was the next day (8/22). There were subsequent CMH <-> MCO DINGS for October on 8/22 (a double DING day), 9/12, 9/18, 9/25, and 10/2. There were various limitations (some were travel only M-F, some M-S, some M-W, and many on Flight XYZ only). The 'good' news is that every DING had fares lower than what I currently have for my trip down. I'm hoping to knock another $20 per person off my existing flight down and use the credit to buy a dirt cheap flight back! ;)

Well - so much for my research (see last reply). There was a DING last night through the end of October for MCO and one city (I can't remember which - it wasn't mine, so who cares). Actually - it may have been San Jose???

Anyway - keep your fingers crossed!:woohoo:

that was it!!!

Perhaps it's coming!! Please Please Please....

although currently they have $79 rate [$99 after tax/fees] on their website for the Sunday I want...I'm tempted but I lose the whole day, even morning....beggers can't be choosy but I am!

I booked my Ding! fare for October 2006 in late August - as you can see from my reply to this thread last year, in late July I was convinced we would be driving, LOL. I'm taking the same approach this year - planning to drive unless Southwest comes up with a good Ding! fare :)

Has anyone been able to get through SW's web site today? I keep getting an "unable to disply itenerary -- try again later" message.

I'm so envious of some of the fares you are getting. From my city, flying on SW for $110 one way is a steal. I used to have to pay about $350 for a flight in and out of Orlando, so $220 for us is unbeatable.

I am also waiting for some DINGS - from Indianapolis to Houston Hobby. Our family is going to Disney in October but we already have our flights booked with Airtran. Those are set. I also want to go to Houston to visit my brother and his wife who are having their first baby in September. I need to fly on an airline that goes to Houston Hobby, and Southwest seems to be my best bet. The airfare right now is $258 RT, which isn't too bad but I have gotten lots of DINGS for Houston lately, but nothing for October yet. Hopefully they will have some soon!!!:wizard:

Up until today, the latest Dings! I had been seeing were through the end of August.

I just got a Ding! a few minutes ago that went through the end of October!!

I have not seen any of the September Dings! mentioned in this thread.

(My cities are Nashville, Birmingham, and Orlando.)

Yep, a bunch of dings just came through out to Oct 31. The fares on them were nothing to brag about though.

I was able to get my November flight booked today for $92 promotional, that's $109 with tax one way and a GREAT price for flying in/out of my city.
