Learn how to play Pickleball, the fastest growing sport in the country, with daily clinics and round robins at the Palmetto Dunes Pickleball Center in Palmetto Dunes Oceanfront Resort. Pickleball is a sport that combines the elements of tennis, badminton and ping pong. It is played with oversized ping pong paddles and a softball-sized plastic perforated ball that travels at about one-third the speed of a tennis ball. Courts and equipment available to rent. Saturdays: Learn to fish and crab and experience the living history and Gullah culture of Hilton Head Island each week with Mr. Ben Green, from 4-7 p.m. at the Rowing and Sailing Center off Squire Pope Road. Volunteers on-site to teach cast net throwing, fishing and other skills. All equipment provided. Free and open to everyone, donations of bait and line always accepted. Held each week during fishing season – Spring, Summer and Fall. In addition, each month we host a community picnic on the 4th Saturday. Free and open to everyone. June 1 & 2: A Chorus Line examines one day in the lives of seventeen dancers, all vying for a spot in the “chorus line” of a Broadway musical. Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays: 2019 Haunted History Tours! Zion Chapel of Ease Cemetery, 574 William Hilton Pkwy. Told in Hilton Head’s oldest and most haunted burial place, our stories have a macabre twist and are sure to raise the hair on your neck. More history than horror, our tales involve real events that have occurred in Hilton Head’s 500 year history and real people who once lived here and are still reported to roam the Island from time to time. Thursdays: 2019 Fort Mitchel Tours! Tour this historic Civil War earthwork battery with an experienced guide. June 6 through November 21. Fort Mitchell is located inside Hilton Head Plantation at 65 Skull Creek Dr. When entering the plantation, please ask the guard for a pass to Fort Mitchel. The guard will ask for a valid ID. 10 a.m. Admission is $15 per adult and $10 per child ages 7-12. Ticket is required for entry. June 7: Pockets Full of Sunshine hosts the 2019 “Fun in the Sun for EVERYONE” day on Friday, June 7 from 10 a.m.–12 pm on the beach in front of Marriott’s Surf Watch on Hilton Head Island. Over 200 individuals with special needs and their friends & families of all ages and abilities were able to enjoy a special day of beach fun!

Tuesdays starting June 11: The Island Recreation Association is proud to bring you a fun-filled, festive atmosphere with the highlight of the night fireworks which start around 9 p.m. Kids of all ages can enjoy inflatable bounce houses and face painting for a minimal fee. Bring your lawn chairs and enjoy the fireworks!
Every Tuesday night throughout the summer, Shelter Cove Harbour presents HarbourFest, a family-friendly festival on the waterfront at Shelter Cove featuring live music by Shannon Tanner, Cappy the Clown, face painting, carnival games, treats from vendors and fireworks to end the night in the most spectacular way! All of these fun activities are set amid great restaurants and shops. HarbourFest runs from 6-10 p.m., with Shannon Tanner taking the stage each night at 6:30 p.m. and 8 p.m., before the fireworks. Cancellations may be necessary at the last minute due to the weather and notification will be immediately announced on this site.

The PALMETTO DUNES TURTLE TROT 5K is a weekly 5 kilometer run/walk taking place in beautiful Palmetto Dunes Resort. These family‐friendly run/walk events consists of two courses: 1) a beach course for weeks with a low tide – and, 2) a road course for weeks with a high tide. Both routes feature some of the best Palmetto Dunes has to offer by leading participants over our sand, under our tree canopy, and along our lagoon and lakes.

June 20: The Palmetto Quilt Guild will meet from noon to 3 p.m. on Thursday, at Palmetto Electric Mathews Drive, Hilton Head Island. Guest Speaker will be Peg Weschke who is a member of the Palmetto Quilt Guild. She will talk about how she feeds her need to create. Whether you are a traditional, contemporary, modern or art quilter, we all share our need to create with fabric. Peg will share her quilting journey and the mentors and friends she has met along the way. She will show a selection of her quilts while sharing the inspiration and techniques that were used to create them. The meeting is open to members and guests, with a $5 guest fee. June 22& 23: Hilton Head Island Music Festival takes place at the Coastal Discovery Museum at Honey Horn June 22 & 23. This 2-day music festival will feature 15 electrifying live performances from a variety of local, state, and regional acts! Saturday is our original music showcase featuring up-and-coming singer song writers and bands with a special appearance from Hannah Wicklund & The Steppin Stones! Sunday’s lineup includes classic covers and touring bands performing a wide range of music from rock, blues, reggae, and funk featuring Voodoo Visionary and The Eric Culberson Band.
