Hi guys:

I just have a quick question when was the parade that was on tv today filmed? I dont think it was live does anyone know. Thanks

betty

No it isn't Live. It was filmed beginning of Dec. I know some days were Dec 4, 5 and 6 not sure of the other days. but they film over many days at each park.

i have to say when i learned a few years ago it wsn't really Live, my bubble burst. I honestly thought all these years it really was live on christmas day.

but if anyone watched it today and saw the beautiful blue skies and sunshine will now know it wasn't live. as it has been raining here in Orlando all day, and cold for here.

<G>

thank you, I also believed it was live but today for whatever reason, I just did not feel like it was. Anyhow, sorry about the rain, we are waiting for the snow tomorow- so you are not that unlucky!!!!

watching the parade just isn't the same as when we thought it was live. it seems to be turning into a horrible 2 hour commercial for all things disney anymore.

yeah we aren't as bad off here as much of the other states. i couldn't beleive when heard it snowed in Houston Tx. at least here only rain. tomorrow is suppose to clear up by noon.

it isn't the same is it when thought the parade was running live on TV. def changed something for me, and then today knowing it was raining but the parade on TV had beautiful weather.

i did watch teh parade today and enjoyed most of it. but i would agree somewaht with digger about it becoming more a commercial. is was even odd listening to regis and kelly, they just didn't sound on "beat".

i liked seeing some of the things going on at disneyland too.

yeah, the previews to the attractions that we are getting was nice, but all the dialogue was horrible. way too many CD and DVD tie-ins. way too commercial. but that seems to be the way of the mouse lately. and that kelly ripa chick looked like a skeleton. the whole thing looked too forced.

The parade was filmed the first weekend in Dec. We were part of the crowds on Friday and Saturday.

You guys are totally right. The parade seems to be one giant disney commercial. Even compared to the one last year this one looked even more like a commercial. As far as Kelly ripa goes she does look like a skeleton. I hope regis can fill dick clark's shoes this year. It will be very strange without him on 12/31.

What Dick Clark isn't doing the New Year's eve ball dropping show this year??????

OMG i didn' think he would ever not do the show unless he was well......

He is not he had a stroke and does not think he would be up for it. So regis is filling in. I know it will not be the same. I think of dick clark as my new years!!! I know alot will miss him this year. :guilty:

oh my i hadn't heard about dick clark having a stroke. is he ok? yes dick will be missed as he is NYE and ball dropping.

The parade was taped on Saturday-December 4-that was our first day of our vacation. We reached Magic Kingdom at 8:10 a.m. and the parade crowds were lined down the street, cameras, lights everywhere!
All the years I've been watching the WDW parade I really thought it was live! What a disappointment to see in person how truly "set up" it really is! "Normal" visitors to the Magic Kingdom got shooed down Mainstreet as they pre-select those who are going to be the crowd---everyone looked to dressed up for regular Disney guests, Christmas attire, santa hats, scarves, etc.--it took all day for them to film it as they tape one small part over and over until it is perfect--all the way down Mainstreet you could hear a guy on the microphone saying "Remember you're clapping, cheering, laughing-having a fantastic time--look warm we're in Florida"
The other thing I noticed when we watched the parade on TV was the beautiful blue, clear sky--the day was nice (there were clouds)until about 11:00 a.m. then it got quite chilly when the clouds really rolled in and with the wind. I look at the pictures I took and there were none throughout the entire day that had blue sky liked they showed on TV!
It was just really sad to have that Disney image of the parade "burst" by reality.

They also were taping on Friday. It was cold and they were telling everyone to look like it was warm. The sky on Friday was beautiful. I took pictures of the sky.

If you just showed up you are more than welcome to join the crowds that are standing there for the taping. If you are dressed for the holiday season you have a better chance of being seen on camera.

Sorry  --I didn't realize they were taping on Friday as well--what I had typed was what we experienced on Saturday.
All along Mainstreet if those just arriving at the park, such as ourselves, tried to stop and watch, cast members told everyone to keep moving, there was no stopping all along Mainstreet--the crowds already there were on the roped off side of the sidewalk along the street.
I had been talking to one mom with her 4 adorable little kids and they had been waiting since early morning off to the side, waiting to be called "for their time to shine"(the exact words the TV crewmember used--I giggled-it sounded so "Hollywood") as they had been selected for a specific camera shot. I was talking to her at around 11:30 and they came over to get her as we were talking---she had sat over to the side for hours waiting!
I just think it's sad that they try to make it like it is "live"(people would still watch even if it wasn't live) and I just don't understand the reasoning with why they make it blue sky--really we were there and it was cloudy :cloud9: but we still enjoyed our day at the Magic Kingdom!

I was there Friday and Saturday and heard the MC walking down Main Street say to the crowds many times they were welcome to be part of the crowd for taping. In my area there were quite a few that just joined the crowd for awhile and then went off to the rides in the park.

Maybe I was there at a different time than you but I remember the sky and it looked beautiful. I thought it would make a great look for the parade.

After watching what happens for 2 days I can understand why they feel they need to tape ahead of time.

I do think the hosts need better scripts next time. The people lining the streets were full of energy to help make a great parade.

As I said previously, sorry---I am not quite sure what exactly for but it does seem like maybe I may have offended you.
I just thought I would post what we saw, heard and experienced during "our" visit. I am not calling into question what others heard or saw--I am only sharing what our family and friends were part of.
I love Disney and was slightly disillusioned by the how the parade was taped----my posting was only to share our experience not to offend. Again-sorry

I was just reporting what happened when I was there. No offense taken. I enjoyed myself during the taping. I will do it again next year.

Thanks for all your responses about the parade. Maybe you guys can answer a question I have- how do I get rid of the countdown timers that are under my name????? Its the wrong date and I want to delete them. Thanks, I know it sounds stupid but they get on my nerves when they have the wrong date. Thanks

You need to go in under User CP and delete the information you cut and pasted for your countdown timer.
