When was the castle a cake ??

That pink castle cake was evil genius. How many people went down *because* it was a cake, and for all the 25th celebrations? AND how many people had to come BACK *because* they wanted to see the *real castle*? I know my family did. It was like they took a lesson from New Coke/Coke Classic.

I have pictures with me and my aunts with the castle half painted pink with the scaffolding there from August 1996.

Same here - the photos from our first trip have loads of scaffolding in them, even the ones that just had the castle in the distant background

I love the castle, but I really enjoyed the cake

I thought it was a fun change for the celebration. We have a huge framed print of it in our loft. LOVE it!

I can't believe it's been 9 years! Wow, time flies. I didn't mind the birthday cake because I knew the original castle would appear again. I did feel they kept it up for too long. With the exception of the big gaudy mirror, I love the new decorations to the castle. I love seeing the characters incorporated in the design. It's so Disney and so magical. I can't wait to go back in Oct.

My dh's first trip to Disney was when the castle was the cake. We LOVED the cake. Though, it was nicer from further away. Up close, you could tell that it was inflatable things, and it looked like a bouncy house.

We saw the caksel when we honeymooned in '97. My husband had not been to disney in 10 years and I had not been 3 years, so we were very dissappointed when we saw the caksel.

Looking back I'm glad we had an opportunity to see it. It is fun to look at our old pictures. We returned in '98 and several times since. By the time of our return Cindy's castle was back, thank goodness.
