Hi everyone,

We are thinking on going to Disney world in the middle part of Oct. and I was wondering if that would be a good time to go? What is the weather and crowds like for the month of Oct.?

And has anyone done MNSSHP and if so how did you like it? We where thinking we would like to do MNSSHP, it sounds like it would be fun to do!

Thanks in advance for any info.

I took my DD to WDW in October as a surprise on her 16th Birthday. It's a great time to go. We were there the week before Halloween and the crowds were managable and the weather was very nice.

We did MNSSHP for the first time (actually bought tix for two nights--greatest thing we did) and it was awesome. We really had a blast. We went on a Friday night and found not too many adults were in costume (kid's were dressed, of course). We also went on Sunday and found more people dressed but the park was busier--go figure! We thought it would be just the opposite. The two days were great. We spent one day really enjoying the festivities and doing some rides and on the second night we switched and did the opposite. Did not wait on most rides and if we did, nothing more than 10 minutes.

We did PS at LTT (definitely worth it) around 5:30 and we were sent over to Tomorrowland (only area open between 6:00-7:00). It was nice because we were already in the park and had somewhat of a jump start. Don't miss the headless horseman--get good seats for the parade. Truly not worth missing. In fact, the second night, my DD and I decided to stake a spot out on Main St. early and we had more fun watching people entering the park with their costumes on! We both were dressed (I as Pinnochio and she was Malificent). People were actually stopping us and asking to take our pix! A trip of a lifetime--truly! We then had great seats for viewing the parade.

One thing--if you are buying passes (5-day or 4-day), I honestly found unless you were going to spend the entire day in the parks, the MNSSHP ticket was enough. We spent the morning/afternoon relaxing at the resort and headed over to the park around 4:00. I believe they started letting people in around 4-4:30. The MNSSHP ticket is all you need to get into MK for MNSSHP. I used one of my day's on my hopper the first morning to head to MGM. We ended up only being there a few hours and I felt it was a waste of a day's pass.

Hope this helps!

We were there the last week of October, 2003. Weather is picture perfect and you have the added advantage of the Food and Wine Festival. This event makes the crowds slightly higher in Epcot but for the most part very manageable We usually go in May, October and December but I think we love October the best. We are planning to be back there this October, as we had to cancel our May trip, Can't wait to start planning.

We have been numerous times in mid-October and overall the weather has been wonderful - very little rain, warm temperatures, just beautiful.

We have gone the past 4 years in October. I think the secret of October has gotten out because it has gotten busier each year. It is still manageable and nothing like summer or holidays, but each year it gets a bit busier. This year the food and wine festival is starting on October 1st instead of October 15th so the beginning of the month might get a bit busier still. Of course, I found out about this right after I scheduled my vacation for October 1st - 10th.

I think you will still enjoy it. Weather is wonderful and crowds are still manageable. MNSSHP is fun, we have done it several times, but skipped it last year. If you have never done it, it is definately worth it.

We always go in October and love that time of year. Though it is getting busier every time we go (maybe we should stop talking about it so the word doesn't get out :-))
October is perfect for weather - not too cold or too hot - mimimal rain; perfect for line ups - very little waiting for most rides; and the Halloween party is fantastic! We went the week before Halloween, my daughter dressed up and we had a blast. We even rode on the Haunted Mansion three times - it was so great.

There are a couple of negatives - though not enough to deter us. The weather can make swimming a bit of a challenge at times. My husband and daughter love to swim at the resort at night but that can be chilly. As well, as with all off season travel, times for the parks are more limited than during other parts of the year. However, we balance these potential concerns with the great things that come with October travel.
I would recommend going in October and if you do - go to the Halloween party, especially if you travel with children.

Hope that helps,
Shell

Hi everyone,

Thank you all for all of your tips and info., it really helps! I do have another ? for all of you, does anyone know when they will put the dates and tickets on sale for MNSSHP?

I finally was able to do a search to find out the answer to your question......it looks like early April is when the will go on sale. At least that's when they went on sale for 2003.
