I am flying from Northern Ca to MCO 5/31-6/9. Sac is the closest airport to my house but airfare from here has went thru the roof!! It is current 512pp and goes up each day I check! I found several flights out of Oakland (Spirit) or San Fran (Jet Blue and Virgin) for 315pp. BUT it is a 2 hour drive. So sitting on the fence. Do I book now and be happy; or wait a bit longer and save the drive, possibly parking since I could get a ride??

I would book and make the 2 hr drive at this point. 2 Hrs to me is worth it for that kind of savings.

:) We always drive 2 hours to New Orleans to take a non stop to MCO with SW. I purchase our tickets ASAP when I see something in budget. DH does better with traveling like that. We only live 9 hours drive from MCO but still he likes to fly. Gulfport and Mobile are closer but more expensive and no non stop flights.

Thanks everyone. I lost my ATM card this weekend so it will be 7 business days. :( So guess I am stuck waiting 1 more week. I am thinking San Fran is the way thou; that is a big savings!

I would not wait a week. Check w/the bank to see if they can give you your new #. There's a good chance you'll lose the cost savings in a week.

Then again, I've had my flights for the middle of June booked since July.

Book when you find a price you can live with. Consider all airports within a reasonable distance and consider all airlines.

Fly out of San Francisco...but be sure to go a day early so you can go to The Walt Disney Family Museum located at the Presidio. There are several hotels near the airport where you can park during your trip. I'd drive down in the morning, check in and park the car, take the BART up to San Francisco and then bus over to the Presidio. You can have lunch at the museum.

You can get a very nice room with two doubles at the Fairfield Inn at Millbrae with parking for $239. The BART station is a three minute walk.

OMG!!! :rotfl2:

Last night I booked my flights on SouthWest for my July trip. Last week they were $139 each way. Yesterday thanks to the DIS someone posted airfare dropped. I got my tickets $99 each way. I say as soon as you see something affordable to you, then book it. I would be willing to take the 2 hour drive to save the money.

Well airfare dropped today so I booked. Sacramento came down substantially. It was still cheaper to fly out of SFO BUT not as huge of a difference and when you add in parking, gas, tolls and the hassle of driving...seemed pretty close to even.

And I LOVE San Fran and the Disney exhibit; but we go often; in fact i have a bday shopping trip there with DD next month and a boyscout sub trip with DS the following weekend! After 10 nights away...my bed is going to be the only place I want to be. :) thanks everyone for the input!!!!
