When the park hours are long, how much of a break do you take?

We will be arriving the day before Easter, and with MK closing at 11:00pm or 12:00am while we're there, I'm trying to figure our how and when to do afternoon breaks.

We usually go in the off season with short park hours, so leaving to take a break in the afternoon is a totally new concept for us.

I guess my main question would be, how long of a break do you take?

We'll probably get to MK at 9:00am (no EE day), do what we can for a few hours and then we have a 12:30pm lunch at CRT.Planning on leaving after this to return to the resort to swim/nap. (staying at PORFQ) Just trying to figure out how much time to spend at the resort, and what time to return to MK.
Thanks :D

I guess that depends on who you are travelling with. Do you have very young kids? We plan on a break from about 1-5 most days, heading back when the sun is not SO bad, and then heading back to the room by 9 or 10, but we will have a one year old with us.

It will just be me,DH, DD12 and DS5.

DS5 is the one I'm most concerned about,he does not take naps, and he usually sleeps late.

I'm thinking with getting him up a little earlier, combined with the hot sun and then some time in the pool he should take nap. At the very least I'll make him spend an hour or so just relaxing.

I imagine when we head back to the park for the evening, we'll be staying until closing, but it's not really a big deal.
We've been many times, and will be many more, so I'm definatly not gonna push.

Really I'm concerned about DH! If he takes a nap he's lible to be out for hours! We always have to pry him out of the bed.
:p

So with 1 and a half hours swimming, then maybe 2 hours nap/rest, about 30min. to get redressed...4hours sound about right?

We take a break anywhere between 12:00 & 2:00, go back to the resort to swim. Anyone that is tired enough either heads to the room to rest or rests in a lounge at the pool. I just enjoy reading my book.

We head back after dinner if we want - around 7:00 or 8:00 or if we are going to eat dinner in the parks we head back a little earlier.

Honestly, we find that's it's less stressful to play it by ear. I used to be so rigid about getting back to the parks, but now I just go with the flow. That could be because we have AP's & belong to DVC., but I say just go with your instincts.

If your family seems too tired to return later in the day, go to dinner, let them relax & start early again the next day. If they are raring to go, then get them back to those parks & sleep in the next morning!!! :)
