When should I start looking to rent points?

The only way I will ever get my dh to consider buying into DVC is to actually rent a 2br and let him experience it for himself. We know our next trip is next summer so when should I begin checking the rent board for available points for BWV 2br for July 2007? We're staying for one week beforehand at the Contemporary so definitely want to be in the Epcot area the second week. I'm thinking Sun-Fri since we need to the weekend to drive home. View doesn't matter but as I understand it, the lesser view rooms are harder to secure anyway?

Start now for this coming summer. The seven month window is upon us for July, which means BWV will be open to everyone to book, and could fill up for dates you want.

Do you mean this year, 2006 or 2007. If its 2007 you may want to start looking for BWV points in August or September of this year, 2006. If you want to go this summer start now.

Start Now! Rooms at DVC are very different than at non DVC resorts. DVC rooms are owned by its members so they fill up fast since the majority of the people know that they will be going to Disney. It becomes very hard to book rooms when the time is close to your vaction dates. The farther out you are the better.

One thing to keep in mind is that a preferred view (PV)--which looks off on the swimming pool or canals--and a boardwalk view (BV)--which looks off onto the boardwalk area--both cost the same number of points/money. Since you will have to pay for the same number of points for either view, it might be nice to rent from a BWV member in enough time to have that member call day-by-day to reserve a BV room for you guys. If you'd rather stay in a standard view (SV)--which will cost you less point/money--then you may need to have the member call day-by-day for you as soon as the 11-month window opens up because those can go quickly as well.

It might be safe to start looking seriously at renting points a few weeks before the 11-month window so that you have enough time to find a BWV owner that can call right at the 11-month window for you.

If you truely don't mind paying more for the PV, then September would probably be soon enough to start renting because the PV doesn't book up as quickly as the other two views.
