When server asks "Are you on dining plan?"

Next trip will be our first on deluxe dining plan. Do we need to clearly state to each server we are on "deluxe" plan, or can we just order apps and expect that all will be billed correctly at end of meal?

Hoping to avoid any bill redos and frustration. Also, has anyone ever felt pressured by waitstaff to order both app and dessert course (increasing tip amount) as we have many ADR's and may want to skip a course occasionally.

Thanks for any advice at all using deluxe plan!

You would have to say which plan. They will need to ring you up as deluxe plan customers so you get everything to which you are entitled.

If you feel pressured to order a certain course that you don't want, just be firm that you do not wish to order that course. It's also possible that your server may tell you "but you are entitled to both appetizer and dessert" because they may have had other diners who didn't realize that. Just say you are aware of the entitlements, but you are choosing not to order the dessert (or whatever). If they then suggest you get the dessert to go, and you still don't want it, state again that you don't want to order it. The server may be out to increase tips, or they may genuinely want to help you get the most value out of your plan.

We never felt pressured to orderer the app and dessert when we were on the plan that included both. There were times that we didn't, and the server did make sure we understood we could get it, but no pressure.

I have read that people were asked to show their KTTW cards with the deluxe plan at the time of ordering, I would assume that is so the server makes sure of what you do get included.

The server may also scan the card to confirm credits available.

We've used the deluxe twice now and the servers did ask if we were on a DDP and then which one. It was always done very nicely. Most did explain that appetizers were included. I actually don't recall anyone saying dessert was (probably since it is also on the regular DDP). We never felt any pressure to order all three course. Everything was always billed appropriately and as we also have DDE, the items for that part of the bill were always in order too.

The whole thing is easy...lots of receipts mind you. But the servers are pros at this.

We've never had that happen to us. We used the deluxe twice this year, the regular DDP a number of times in the preceding two years or so and used to do the Gold Key plan and other iterations of that for many years. Never once has a server scanned our card before the meal. Frankly, I would object....just seems kind of rude. Like demanding your credit card before you order as essentially that's what they would be doing.

Have you had this happen to you personally, Jody? If so, what did you say?

I haven't been on the Deluxe Plan yet, but last year, with three parties at one table, yes, the server took all our cards (and brought them back) before we ordered.

We have never in literally hundreds of meals over the years had a server take all the cards.

Did this happen to you at only one restaurant? Do you remember where,Kaytie?

Just a thought but maybe it has to do with the fact that appitizers are no longer included in the regular plan and they are with deluxe.

Yeah, just one - and oops, I thought I mentioned it! Les Chefs de France. Four adults, two kids, three separate parties - me; two adults; one adult+two children. I actually did think it was unusual, but since I didn't end up short any credits...

Seriously, I would ask for a manager if that happened again. There is just no reason they would need all the cards nor need them before you're finished with your meal.

disneyfan55, I agree that the servers will want to clarify which plan guests are using now that appetizer isn't included for the basic. But no need to actually take the card away from the table until the meal is over. It is like a credit card and I wouldn't relinquish that at any other restaurant prior to settling the bill.

We got back late last night.

Tell the waiter/server what plan you are on Deluxe, or Dining.

No apps on the DDP, they are on the Deluxe.

We had no problems and only had 1 advance reservation before arriving-the Hoop-De-Doo Revue.

We ate at the Tusker house at AK(tuesday-Lunch), HDD(Sunday), Marrakesh(family favorite)(Monday), Planet Hollywood(DTD)(Friday). The Liberty Tree(Thursday), Biergarden(tuesday)(disappointing), Tokyo Dining(wednesday-also a favorite). Breakfast at the Trails end 4 of 6 days, and had 8 meals left when we left. Couldn't get into the Sci-fi it was booked until after 9 every night. Had quick service lunches most days.

We had 8 meals left, but left early SAT AM to drive 15 hours home.

Almost too much food.

Also on most of the quick service lunches you get a cookie/brownie or fruit cup for dessert. We usually threw those in our packs for a afternoon snack, many made it home.
Plus we cashed in about 20 snack credits Friday night. Anything but specialty apples in the case at Goofy's candy company count as snacks.
