When Making Reservations?

When making reservations, is there any way to make sure that you get a CM in lieu of the WDW Travel Company? I would like to avoid the 45 day requirement if at all possible. Just in case something happened and I had to cancel. The 5 day requirement is so much better.

geez, I didn't even realize that could happen. I booked a vaca for August with AP discount, by calling the 407-WDISNEY number. They didn't mention the cancellation policy, and I didn't think to ask since I was just at WDW 2x since March, lol.

I can't have 45 day cancel, we are taking a pretty big gamble on booking ressies at all!

It's the same people. You tell them if you want a room-only reservation that has the 5 day cancellation policy or if you want to book a package that has to be paid 45days in advance.

Thanks Melissa. I didn't realize the difference between booking a package and just booking a room. Ours is a package deal, so I guess we are stuck with the 45 day cancellation policy. Does anybody know if you lose all your money if you don't cancel 45 days in advance without purchasing the trip insurance?

On the packages, you can get a full refund up until that 45 days prior to arrival. If you cancel 45-6 days prior to arrival, they will keep $100. If you cancel 5 days or less, they will keep $200 of your payment. If you make any changes within that 45 days, you will be subject to a $60 change fee (although, if you are spending MORE money, they will usually waive the fee). HTH!

Thank you NCDisneyMom for the valuable information. I was afraid if something happened and we had to cancel beyond the 45 days that we would lose all of our money. We are not planning on canceling, but nothing in life is guaranteed but death and taxes.
