When is TIW worth it?

Can you use the TIW card to buy drinks at Epcot at the drink stands? Or how about the new Tequila Bar in Mexico?

Unfortunately, La Cava del Tequila is not listed on the information sheet I got when I bought my new TIW card in March. I don't know of any drink stands that take it, either. (none are listed)

I wish!!!!

In continuance of my wishful thinking....
I would venture to say *perhaps* someday, the tequila bar... they do serve a good amount of apps there ... I will cross my fingers. I can only imagine how much busier it could be, if TIW was accepted.

Okay....we have decided to buy AP and get the TIW card. The questions I have are:

1) is it like the AP that it is not "active" until you use it or is it active upon purchase (our trip will be June 2011 so I am trying to find out the best time to purchase the TIW card)

2) in regards to using the discount at CRT will I need to have the card before I make my ressie or make my ressie and present the card when we are there and they will refund the difference?

TIA

No, it is "live" and the expiration date depends on the day you purchase, not day of first use. The card is good for 13 months - until the last day of the month *after* the anniversary of when you purchased it. I bought my current one on 3/24/10 and it expires on 4/30/11

They will refund the difference. When booking online, there's no way to enter it. When booking by phone, I was told they couldn't adjust it then and would refund at the restaurant. The waiter, however, told me they could have done it by phone - don't know who to believe. Actually, now that I think about it, on my last trip, they DID adjust it by phone! So it's one of those situations where you have to get the right CM, I guess.

Can you use the TIW card at counter service? Also, is there anywhere I can find a list of the restaurants that accept the TIW card? We are a family of 6 and are looking for the best way to save on dining but we will also be doing alot of CS meals as well as TS. We will be there for nearly 3 weeks in Dec. Thanks ahead of time for your help!

There are only a few counter service: flame tree bbq and value resorts off the top of my head.

There is a list here.

I don't think this has been mentioned before, but here is a spreadsheet that Tricia1972 came up with:

http://personalpages.tds.net/~rb/DIS/MYW Dining/DisneyDining Template 2009.xls

It allows you to enter the meals that you are planning to eat and it compares the DDP with the TIW card.

Since my DD is a "Disney Adult" at 10 we don't buy the DDP anymore. We do, however, do free dining. Even with the TiW card. We broke even on it last December and we still have two more trips on the card before it expires.
