When is the hat to be removed?

Anyone know when the sorcerer's hat at Disney's Hollywood Studios will be removed? I thought I had seen it was scheduled for early 2015 but wanted to know if a date was released?

No exact date, but it'll be removed next month

Just a wide-open vista so the theater can be seen from the park entrance.

I don't really hate the hat, I just hate where it is. I don't care for the water tower either. DHS really needs a grand symbol, something with a purpose. I just don't know what.

I think the problem is the layout. It was a rushed design and doesn't have any kind of proper hub to put a weenie (Walt's term).

Permits were already filed for the demolition, so I would expect construction walls to go up early next week.

I didn't really mind the hat either but I'm always excited by changes. It will be nice to see the theatre again when you walk down the Main Street. I look forward to it.

It really is not any such thing. The BAH was originally only supposed to be temporary. It has long out stayed it's welcome. The Earful Tower was the original park icon. I'll be overjoyed to walk into the park and see the Theatre at the end of the street again, which was the original design.

Umm, where were you when they installed it in the first place? The BAH is a late addition to the Studios.

Me too. My dad was on the opening team for the park and it was always my favorite place to visit growing up. I hated that the hat killed the setting of old Hollywood the designers were going for. Maybe at Christmas next year, the tree will go back where it was with the trains underneath.

Had no idea they were removing the hat...but I am very glad they are. I think the view of the theater will be perfect for the theme of "HollyWood Studios". That Hat just may zero sense to me!

I hope they put the hat at the entrance of the park, before you get to the turn styles. I wish they put Mickey and Minnie's houses somewhere too.
