In a recent post, I read the following:

"Also, with regard to your comment about "only travelling in the fall when crowds are low", don't confuse DVC seasons with WDW seasons. October and November are very popular (particularly BWV and BCV) due to the Food and Wine Festival, as well as Thanksgiving holiday. And the entire month of December is popular--first because early-December is the cheapest DVC point season, and then later in the month you have people coming for the Holidays."

So I checked the BCV point chart for 2005 and 2005, assuming that the trends would be the same for any DVC resort at WDW. They don't make sense to me. Why would DVC require less points at a busier time of year? All of October and November (except Thanksgiving) are Choice seasons, the first two weeks of December is Adventure and the third week is Choice up until right before Christmas. I thought that they require fewer points during the slower times as an incentive for members to stay then. What am I missing?

WDW trends in general and DVC trends are not the same and have no direct relationship. Park attendance I believe is what WDW trends for "seasons" are based on (someone correct me if I am wrong).

The first 2 weeks of December seem to be the most popular with DVC'ers from what I've been reading on these boards lately because of the low point cost and holiday themes.

Boston's got it right. Part of the reason December has become so popular with DVC folks is because it has the low points and the great decorations. DVC also schedules our annual meetings during this time period. Disney is constantly coming up with ideas to keep the parks filled. The Food & Wine Festival has grown greatly since the BWV opened and I believe OKW was open before this event started.

With tourism and business travel coming back to near normal levels, there really aren't very many "down" times at WDW. The two times that remain are right after Labor Day in September and right after Christmas/New Year's in January. People are reluctant to take kids out of school after they have just had big vacations. But, the folks at Disney are coming up with ways to entice folks to these times as well. The Marathon in January was a start to revive visitors at this time of year and I think they also have something happening in September (can't recall what it is).
