We have been going to WDW the past three years in November and for the first time this year our trip coincided with Jersey Week. We would like to avoid that this year - nothing against New Jersey. My parents are from Jersey - just wish to go at a less crowded time. :) We were planning the week of November 12th. Thanks!

The teacher's convention is Nov 8 & 9, 2012. With Election day being Nov. 6, NJ schools will have their days off the week before you arrive. Enjoy your trip!

YAY! Thank you for the information, I appreciate it. I just reserved a 1 BD villa at AKV. This will be our first visit in a 1 BD - we usually get a 2 BD but our oldest will be in college so she won't be able to go on this trip....Still, the rest of us our looking forward to it!

I think you picked a great time to go and will miss the crowds! You will also miss the Food & Wine Festival, so that will make crowds lower.

Just curious, are you taking your kids out of school to go that week? I am thinking about taking my 3rd grader out for a few days but I am still mulling it over.

Also, do you think they will be running a discount during that time? Or have you already received a pin?

Have a GREAT trip!

Thanks, yes last year we were there during the last week of food & wine and it was so crowded! BUT, we did enjoy seeing Epcot and trying some of the kiosks and the eat to the beat concerts!
Yes, we will take our kids out of school. Our kids are good students and rarely miss any school other than our annual trip to WDW. The teachers have been great about it. So, we are very lucky - some districts would not be. After seeing how crowded it was last year during jersey week - I know that I would not want to do during a school holiday. I know some people do not have that option, but since we do - we want to go when it is quieter.
I have no idea about a pin. We are DVC members - so we are using our points for our trip.

What is Jersey week and why do they get their own week? Is there a week for every state?

People call it that because it is a certain week in November when the kids (in NJ) have Mon-Wed as 1/2 days and Thurs and Fri off for a teacher convention. It happens every year. Half the state takes off for WDW.

Funny! It just happens to be a week that a lot of people from New Jersey all take off at the same time and go to Disney every year.
And no, never heard of a week for any other state - good question though!

Oh ok... It sounds the same as the UEA week at Disneyland, where all of Utah is off for most of that week, and they all seem to end up in Disneyland!

I have never been to Disneyland - so I wouldn't have know about that. If we ever go out there, I will have to make sure it isn't that week!

Actually it is a pretty good time to go. No other schools seem to be out and it i the tail end of the Food/Wine festival, also beginning of Osborne lights and MVMCP.

YIKES! We had never heard of Jersey week and were on the November 6 Dream cruise last year hoping for mostly adults. The ship was PACKED with kids, you could barely make it from omen end of the ship to the other on the pool deck. Unless you're from Jersey and have kids--avoid Jersey week!

Aren't Disney cruises always packed with kids?

We were there for the first part of Jersey week this year. It wasn't that bad, but we usually go Thanksgiving week.
