Other than at Disney World, of course...:rotfl:

Watching DD16 with her driver's license yesterday and today, it struck me that this is the happiest I've seen her in a long time. Don't get me wrong - she's a sweet, sunny kid most of the time. But she is just so THRILLED, so intensely joy filled, about getting her license and being able to drive - it's just delightful to watch. And she's done about 6 errands for me today so I am thrilled too!!

Every time she realizes she can do something now on her own that she used to have to get someone to do for her - drive to the bookstore and browse, go get a hot chocolate at Starbucks, etc. - another wave of joy just washes over her. It's so much fun to watch.

When have you seen your kids be really, really happy about something? Was it an event, something they won or excelled at, something special they were finaally old enough for?

It just feels like Christmas morning here and has for the last 36 hours!

DS3 has been really happy when he is looking at (playing with) all our Christmas decorations and everytime we are in the car and he sees Christmas lights lit up. Little things can make you so happy when you are 3. :santa:

DS7 has been really moody lately but the last time I saw him truly happy was when we went camping and he was allowed to ride his bike around the campground. (We live on a country road, so at home he can only ride his bike in our driveway at home)

My 9 year old kiddo just mastered her back handspring and has now figured out how to do one no-handed (eeek!!). She is unbelievably proud of herself and just radiates such happiness and joy. I love seeing her face light up when she is practicing and she puts so much dedication into her gymnastics.

When my parents bought my daughter a dream house on a gorgeous lake.

DD is a pretty happy kid overall (we are blessed), but some of the standout happy moments of the last 2 years:

Whenever DD scores a goal or has a killer assist on the soccer field, she is really happy. When her team won their tournament last month, all the girls were elated.

DD got all A's for her 5th grade year- we bought her a loft bed and set it up in her room while she was at summer camp. She was really happy and surprised when she came home and saw it.

When her school voted for her to receive the Principal's Award for allover excellence last year- she was so proud of herself- we were, too!!

And. in a Disney moment- she was thrilled when I surprised her with a Mother's Day weekend mom & Daughter trip to WDW. She cried and everything!

when each of my sons had babies of their own! when I looked at my boys, holding their own newborns, and they looked at me, looking at them, it was like "it all clicked" with them. It's like, the day your son holds his own baby is the day he truly becomes a man

I think with DD14, who is an overall happy kid-very upbeat, her "shining moment' so far is when she took 6th at the conference golf meet last spring. It was a breakthrough day with her golf game and a real confidence booster as well. She was walking on air for a good week after that.

For the boys--DS17 is not an emotional kid at all so with him it is hard to say. He was pretty excited to get his Motorola Droid and I got an unsolicited hug out of that one, which is pretty unusual for him.

DS14, again, a pretty reserved kid but I think the first time he got to go to a pro basketball game he was pretty much loving life. DH took him but I guess he was just glued to the action and had a great time.

My oldest DS isn't happy very often, so its hard to say. My middle DS and DD are both pretty happy kids so we see them really happy pretty often.

Right now I think I would say grades. DS has had mono and he is getting some final grades for the semester and his grades haven't been too bad and he's thrilled. DD is doing really well and just got her mid term grades and was really happy.

I could have written this exact post. That was my DD last year and when she pulled in the lot with the driving instructor, I knew by the look on her face she had passed. What an exciting moment for us all. We also browse B&N with our hot chocolates too.:goodvibes Congrats to your DD!

DD is almost two and she is happy almost all the time when playing. She runs around the living room pushing her toy train saying "Koo-koo (choo-choo)" and "Weeeee"

She also really enjoys stirring eggs for scrambled eggs or putting on pants, socks and shoes. She always looks so proud when she does does something independently. She always strives to do things on her own.

I hope she keeps her happy spirit and personality as she grows up.

Recently, the happiest my mom has probably seen me is when I found out I did really good on my ACTs. I was jumping around the house for about an hour afterwards and called all my friends.

Then of course anytime we talk about our upcoming disney trip, I get incredibly excited and happy.

My favorite picture of DD is when we're driving under the Disney World arch for the first time when she was 5 - pure joy! But that breaks the rule so I can't mention it. :goodvibes

For DD I'd have to say when we took her to see Anthony Rapp and Adam Pascal in Rent (5th row!) and then we met Anthony Rapp afterward. She was so thrilled!

For DS it would be making a PK to win a game in a soccer tournament. It's one of those things he always imagined himself doing and he finally got to do it!

DS (23) has always been a pretty happy person, so we were lucky there. However, when he realized that he had done enough to graduate from college Summa cum laude, I really saw pure joy in him. He was SO happy! It was a great moment for both of us.

My 13 year old is the classic optimist so she is usually pretty happy all the time.

however, I saw pure joy on her face at the regional dance competition over Thanksgiving weekend. She has been twice before and although it is exciting just to qualify to compete, the top half of each age group is called back to do a third round and receive an award.

My daughter made the top half this year for the first time and even though she was at the bottom of the top half, she was absolutely thrilled to be on stage doing her third round and receiving her award. She could have cared less where she placed as long as she was on that stage!

dd2 -- anytime she sees mickey mouse or hears the theme from Mickey mouse clubhouse and when she saw all the xmas decorations.

dd6 -- when she learned to swim on her own in swimming lessons

ds8 -- when he opened up his gameboy a couple xmas's ago, Im sure that will be topped when he opens up his nintendo ds this xmas.

dd9 -- Whenever xmas starts approaching and when she made the 10u travel softball team this past fall.

dd13 -- When she was nominated for People to People Leadership program and when she gets to cook:rotfl: She gets excited when she gets to go bowling or swimming for gym class too. Oh, and I forgot when she made the 12u travel softball team as a fastpitch pitcher last year.
They all get excited and can't wait for school to start every summer! Im extremely lucky! Straight A students too:love:

My daughter (9) was truly happy and proud of herself when she made the all-star softball team this past season. And she was a starter every game.

She was also really happy when I surprised her with tickets to see the Cheetah Girls in concert last year for her birthday.
