When Hate and Love Collide You Get MAGIC? 2 updates! 3/10

Wow, MNSSHP was *REALLY* as amazing as you said!!! What a wonderful thing that CM did, truly Disney MAGIC! Love it!!!!

And yeah we see how this TR will end knowing you have changed your MR for a Halloween Dream cruise....:rolleyes1:thumbsup2

Glad to see ya back updating, I know it's been crazy busy for ya! :)

how Magical. what a great memory for Adam/Peter LOL Glad you were able to hit all those charachters and they made it such a great experience. cant wait to read more!

After not really receiving too much sleep from the previous night with Mnsshp, we got up early at 6:45am to be at the Crystal Palace. My son was a little ticked off at me as he was sure that sooner or later he would be allowed to just sleep in and go swimming. He also knew that we would be going back to face the "Please don't throw me in that briar patch" ride aka Splash Mountain. We gathered up the usual items back pack, camera, pens, the pillow case, tickets, and cash and headed out to the park. We knew that we needed to be inside the park at about 7:50ish. With that in mind we pulled out of our resort and headed towards the MK for a 1/2 day at Disney, break for a little while, then back to the park.

The one nice thing about being at Disney Resort and Parks area is that its about 2000 miles away from my work. There is nothing to remind me that that place exists except for the van that ALWAYS seemed to show up on the way to a Disney Park.
DSCN3606.jpg

When we arrived at the park, we were given the first row to to park in. Normally, I think we would be excited but we had two problems. One, everyone was tired and two are feet were killing us. We hoping that may be a rogue tram would run but it never came. A short walk later we were at the front of the park where the only option was the monorail. As we got to the top, we got top the Monorail left. Which would mean only more waiting. :laughing:But its what you do at Disney. After about 10 minutes, we got another one and headed to that Magic Kingdom.

I have been fortunate enough to see that park empty in my life on more than one occasion. But the place sure is peaceful right before the opening of the park.

DSCN3608.jpg

As we walked up Main Street, we would see the family of the day motoring on through!
DSCN3609.jpg

There was one person I wanted to see right before headed into the Crystal Palace, Mighty Casey. I remember growing up and listening to stories from the Disney Channel cartoons of Casey at the bat.
DSCN3610.jpg

After a quick stop at the bathroom, we were off to CP. We checked in and that lady at the counter doubled checked my wife's allergies although they really wouldn't apply to breakfast food. About ten minutes later, we were brought in and seated. Our server had a Jersey accent, although his name tag had a Orlando, FL stamp on it. When he saw that allergies on it, he told us the chef would be right over. 15 minutes later the chef did finally show up, but by this time my wife and son were a little agitated. They were hungry and her allergies just were not going to apply to this breakfast.

Eeyor was making the rounds and Adam, although tired, turned on his charm for his picture and autograph.

Then Pooh would make his stop
DSCN3615.jpg

DSCN5031.jpg

We would eat the various things at the breakfast. While I was with Adam filling his plate my wife grabbed a photo of a Mickey Waffle

DSCN3616.jpg

Now that everyone was starting to get there bellies full of some buffet food, everyone's mood was beginning to change. Then Piglet my wife's favorite came around. Piglet had a good time with my wife including playing with her hair. Unfortunately, our camera didn't want to work with us. This was the best shot we got.
DSCN3619.jpg

Piglets Sig for the pillow case
DSCN5029.jpg

As we talked about the day, we had decided that the food really wasn't worth the $70+ for the buffet. Its a shame too. Yes, you get access to the characters but the food was really lack luster. This was about the only time that I wish I could have had a home made cooked breakfast meal. That said the service was impeccable. Our server was friendly, professional, and always thinking about what we made need next including to go drinks!

Before we would take off we needed one more signature from the 100 arce woods. That was Tigger.

Adam waited and right as he was coming to our table, it was time for the March. So Adam jumped in and then not log after, Tigger showed up at the table.

Breakfast was over. We knew that the park was only open for about 15 minutes so we thought this would be a great time to knock out Fantasy Land. We did Dumbo the night before so the first stop was the carousel.
DSCN3630.jpg

As we were riding I saw Mary Poppins out of the corner of my eye. At first I thought about getting another picture just in case of the first one going bad, but thought it wasn't necessary. I wish I would have took it. When we got back home we realized the one from Epcot didn't come out.

We then road Peter Pan, Snow White, and headed to Mickey's PhillharMagic where my wife would fall asleep while my son was laughing that Donald was shot into the wall. Before we knew it, we were on a Small World and heading to Adventure Land. Adam was talking a big game about riding Thunder Mountain till he got there. Then it was I don't want to go! My wife and I decided that he would go on everything that we thought he could handle and if he didn't like then so be it. He decided that he would ride with me and my wife would ride alone. This would prove to be a huge mistake! Since the lap bar comes down all the way across the seat including his, it left A LOT of room between him and his safety. We rode the whole ride and he was terrified the entire time!

Tears! Tons of Tears streamed downed his face. We told him he didn't have to do it again but he would have to go with me on Splash Mountain. (As he hears the screams of various kids going down "the briar patch".) My wife doesn't like being wet so she decided to sit this one out. So me and Adam headed into the line. He wasn't crying anymore but he was insisting that he didn't need to go on the ride. As we stood in line, the family in front of us starting talking to me. The wife of the family said they were from N. Carolina and were on the back half of their trip and their first child was the "scarried cat." I told them that we still had about 10 more days left. Then their 7 year old girl started talking to my little one. He still didn't want to go on the ride as we progressed through the line but he said at some point "I think I'll be ok on this one."

The last time we rode this ride or one like it was Sea World. I assured him we would be fine. When we came to drops I would tell push real hard so he wouldn't fall forward and that he probably would find out this really won't be that bad. When we came to the BIG drop, I told him to hold on and I could her the terror in his scream. However, something changed there. When we got to the bottom and it didn't splash him, he looked puzzled. I looked at him and asked him what he thought. "That really wasn't that bad." I laughed and said, "told ya."

I asked him if he wanted to do it again and he said he would. In fact, later he wanted to ride with Mom on Thunder Mt. He didn't want her to be by herself and not ride with us. :thumbsup2 I told her the news and she was thrilled that we would do it one more time. It was getting close to about 1:30 so we decided on more ride and that would be Pirates which we all enjoyed. Before we left the park for a break, we had quick stop for a Dol Whip.

For those that don't know. Dol whip= sherbet yogurt. NOW, that we know, we can check that one off the list. With that we left the park for some R & R at the hotel pool and a nap for my wife.

Sounds very tiring, but still fun! Sorry your breakfast wasn't the greatest... I'm glad lil man enjoyed the briar patch though! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to hear more!!!popcorn::

Sounds like a pretty awesome morning in MK! The park looks amazing so early in the morning (as difficult as it may have been to drag in there that early). I'm the furthest thing you'll find from a morning person, so I've never seen it that empty (and probably never will, lol).

Crystal Palace, I agree with your opinion. So very pricey and yeah... it's all about the characters not the food. We haven't been there in years but that may change with Sarah.

Sounds like a fun ride for Adam on Big Thunder! Airtime! Whee! :yay: (lol) even if he was terrified. So glad he came around and decided to ride again. And Splash, how awesome that he ended up thinking it "Wasn't so Bad" (we keep telling Savannah that about RNRC but she's still very intimately acquainted with the chicken exit on that ride. :rotfl2:

Ready for more! ;)

My wife's poor nap...

Jen you really should maybe nudge her to flight! I'm so glad I did, and the next post shows you how I did it. Round 2 (ding ding)

We were all exhausted! About 6 hours of sleep and what seemed to be walking forever, it was time for a rest. So we made our way back to Bonnet Creek (Wyndham) for some R & R! My wife had decided enough sun, so she was ready for a nap in the master suite. Adam was all about the lazy river with the Jamaican Music, so to the pool we went to just chill.

Now I have one pet peeve while on vacation. Its a simple one that I would think most people have, I don't want to talk about my job or really hear about someone else's. hmmm.. that doesn't sound right. Let me clarify: I don't mind hearing what people do, its interesting. I like hearing about jobs, HOWEVER, I don't want to hear for 2 hours about how "the MAN" is beating you down. When I think of relaxing, I think Jamaican Music with a awesome drink in hand questioning why the clouds are not all looking like Mickeys, elephants of various sizes, and may be the sports car in one of them too. Such pleasant views were pretty much wiped from the screen with visions of pink notices, union injustice, and then something about body parts being removed for some sort of disease! (I'll admit the last one I felt sympathetic.) Time and place people? Why would anyone want to spend their vacation worrying about life? Aren't we escaping it? :confused3 I was shocked not to see one of them on the news about some sort of tragedy.

I decided that after swiming ahead in the lazy river I had enough. I jumped in one of the 2 jacuzzi's where I met a family going to Mnnshp. What difference in the conversation! I told them what we did, and some of our tips. It was exciting to see that the various of ages all thrilled to go 9,24, 51... Maybe this Disney thing is infectious! We talked for a bit then Adam and I headed back to the room to gather my wife and head to the parks.

When we got back she woke up out of what seemed to be a light sleep. I asked how her sleep was and she said, " Frightening!" When I pressed her why she said, "that damn Jacuzzi!"

I snickered a bit and she told me how she was sound asleep when suddenly, the Jacuzzi turned on! She woke up terrified then hit the button to turn off. It turns out that when you use the Jacuzzi, it is programmed at some point to turn on to blow out the water so you don't get a mildew smell. :rotfl2: As much as my wife didn't find this at all funny, I got a good kick out of it.

We made our way back to the park. It was time to hit the last few rides that we had not. I had told another Disser Dawnbu40 that I was going to try out the Jungle Cruise, since I had never tried it.

There was virtually no one around at the monorail. In fact, it was just us getting on

2010-10-27-172238.jpg

Adam enjoyed looking outside our private coach

2010-10-27-172825.jpg

What caught his eye, but a different mountain of sorts
2010-10-27-172837.jpg

Once inside, I decided to ditch the bag with everything in it to a locker. We didn't really want to see any characters or signings just want to ride and have fun. The move it, shack it block party was going on so we attended again! It would seem that every time, we turned around that party was going on. After we would again at Peco's Bills. Adam really liked the mushrooms there. The second time was ok, but I think its safe to say we have had our fill now.

Adam had asked to go on Aladin Magic Carpet, so we did. While we were in line, he murmurmed something about the camels to which I didn't listen. I sat with him in the front while my wife was in the back. Then about 1/2 way through the wife, I had my wife say, "that camel just spit on me." Adam was dieing. I was confused. She was annoyed. Ooops?!

Then I saw the Jungle Cruise and told my wife I would like to go on this. I have a pretty dry sense of humor, and I must say I think I was about the only one laughing at most of the jokes on this ride. That said I had a white T-shirt on and when the boat captain made a mention of people wearing white they need to be careful. They were in great danger in fact because there were... Now Adam was very concerned at this part because of my white shirt. He leaned over and said, "dad you need to be careful,"... the lady then explained that there were Hungry Hippos right there!! :rotfl2: :thumbsup2 THAT was AWESOME!!!! I was laughing so hard in the back of the boat! I think between the driver and Adam's concern I just couldn't take it anymore.

A pirates life for us was next. Then it was about 7:30. I knew that there was a new/old parade so we went to check it out. WAYYYY more people than Mnnshp parade and IMO not as good of a parade either. I know this may not be a popular thought but I wish we would have skipped it. We decided at the end we would burn our fast passes with Thunder and Splash Mountain.

When we got up to Thunder Mountain, Adam started saying he didn't want to ride it and that he wasn't all the serious earlier when he told his mom he would ride it one more time. We told him he committed, he can break his promise. This time though, he would ride with his mom. To make it a little more interesting, we got the front car.

He started his crying before we left the station, and I looked at him and said, "you can cry all you want, I'm going to have fun.":cool2: I'll be honest, this was hard for me not to worry about him, but I'm on vacation too sometimes you just have to let them go. As we got to the top of the hill, I put my hands up and let my screams out. To my surprise I heard, " oh baby!" I turned and looked at my wife, who grinned and shrugged. How was the rest? Let's just say, he wasn't crying! :woohoo:

It was 3 minutes to closing and Adam and I ran to Splash followed the que and boarded the boat/log. Then something occurred to me. We had 4 Adults and 4 kids all sitting with adults on the left and kids on the right. I'm not a rocket scientist:teacher:, but this can't be good. I made a mention and 2 other them switched and the log balanced out. Then we made our way up towards the first drop, and as we came down they fireworks for wishes were just starting. It was definitely a different experience that you really could only find in a Disney experience. By the time we finished our ride, wishes was coming to the point of its Grand finale. I do wish I could have seen it may be at the castle but the experience on how I saw it on Splash Mountain may never happen again. Its a worth while trade. We would finish the night with some last minute shopping and back to the hotel.

Hollywood Studios was up next. There I would meet another CM that would change my opinion of Disney in another way.

For those who are wondering, Hotel Hell is only 2 or 3 posts away

I just lost the whole post aaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhh.... so here we go again....
Our feet was killing us from the last few days. It was mutually decided that we would just take a big chill pill and hang out and that pool until the afternoon. About 1:30 we would arrive at DHS and be greeted by an empty tram.

Up first was the Great Movie, which I could have sworn they have changed. Then we ran over to the animation area of the park for the Little Mermaid. It was a hour wait. That's not going to happen, so we went inside the animation part and got our pictures with some of the drawings.

I didn't have the heart to tell him it was a rabbit.:rotfl2:

Then we would go see the car stunt show thinking Adam would like it. He thought it was ok, but wasn't really into it. So we left early and on the way out grabbed a photo of a plane.
2010-10-28-170243.jpg

We knew we wanted some pictures with Tow-mater and Lightening and 30 mins later
DSCN3652.jpg

There there is that really cool street that is just LARGER than life but what are they doing in the middle of the street?
DSCN3651.jpg

My wife was getting hungry and split off to find food. I wanted to show Adam the Indiana Stunt show. Again, we had bad seats and they haven't changed this show.... GAWD they need to. It really is starting to become dated. After meeting my wife for some 4-d :3dglasses Muppet Action, we decided to check on some things near Fantasmic.

A little for-shadowing?
DSCN3649.jpg

DSCN3650.jpg

THEN WE SAW the line. WOW. We heard that people were waiting since 5:00 to get in the line. By the time we got there for the 7ish show, they told us that it was already standroom only and that the 9:00 show was lining up. I wasn't going to wait 2 hours for a show. It was obvious that Disney has some crowd issues here, especially for this show. Adam was becoming hungry, and the "food court" area was right there.

This is what he ate..
DSCN3659.jpg

DSCN3660.jpg

DSCN3661.jpg

Yes those are nuggets too under the whole turkey leg. I guess he was a tad hungry.

My wife and I went to get into to line for RnC, when my son said,"bathroom." Sigh. I'm never going to ride this ride.

About an hour later my wife showed up as Adam and I were just hanging in the big courtyard there. We started to head out of the park when I noticed the line moving for Fantasmic. I told Adam to hold tight to mom and me. We jumped into the line where the pole and yarn end. Somehow, I'm not sure really how but after about 30 minutes of waiting, we ended up with end of the bench in the middle of the theatre.

Then is all started with
DSCN3667.jpg

DSCN3673.jpg

WHAT A SHOW!!! Arguably this is the best show on Disney property. On the way out of the show, I had told Adam that I would cover him if he wanted the Magic hat that Mickey had....
2010-10-28-215054.jpg

So then we did what any family would do at the end of the night and feet in agony, SHOP!

Next:The CM Difference

I interrupt this TR for a moment with those that work in the parks and not always shown that we care. I wrote this almost right after we got back in the hopes that this CM could hear our thanks A Thanks to Those That Make This Park Shine I was delighted to receive a couple nice PM's from Disney folks that did take notice. If you read it, keep in mind it was written with those in the CP program. If you decide not to, then here is the story for you here in the TR.

We were pretty tired at the end of the night. My wife and I wanted an ornament so we stopped in at Celebrity 10 & 5. After about 15 minutes, the park was closed and we made our purchase. I noticed that the CM was in the college program and my wife and I pummeled her with the questions.. its in fun? Do you want to stay? Long hours? She answered all of them as if they were just as interesting as the first. Completely genuine. My son saw that the CM behind the counter had a "pin collection." It wasn't long before he grabbed his Lanyard and Pins from my bag and proceeded to exchange with her.

To save some time, I wanted to gather his purchases from the front of the park. I thought by the time I got back we would be walking out, especially since this would be his last night to play in the pool. When I got back I found the CM Becky talking to my son. I asked my wife what happened and she simply said,"Becky happened." Needless to say, I was a little puzzled by this. My wife went on to explain that she helped him trade with the remaining CM's at the store.

DSCN3677.jpg

I was a little worried about leaving as we were going to be the last ones that were going to leave the park. But a CM in a came by and could tell and said don't worry. She asked us about our plans and the reason for our trip. My wife and I explained the story of this was his "promised trip." How we would be setting sail on the Disney Magic in just a few days. She remained as interested as we started. Then my son decided he wanted to tell her things about his pins, trip, his meet and greet. She remained at his level the entire time. This was impressive to me. You really don't know how big world is until you see it from their point of view. (I would find this out when I got a camera that he shot pictures from.)

I asked her for a picture which although seemed shy said sure. I told her she was part of our trip and our memories.
DSCN3676.jpg

We left and I went to the front of the park to tell Guest relations about our trip but I couldn't remember the name. So I asked for a card to write the email later. To this day I never wrote it. I did however post the story over at the College Boards like I said. It was about a week later, a Dis Member saw the post and contacted me through a PM. Let's just say, I didn't need to worry about the email.

Yes that's right There are folks here that read the boards. lol. Tbh, my intention was hopefully to just bring some cheer to a thankless job and may be get a message to her. :thumbsup2 To this day, when I think about the trip it still brings a smile of the time that a CM took to interact with my kid. she wasn't a character, didn't give me anything special, or directions... she was Disney Magic that many of us consider the reason why we go and keep coming back.

I've been off the Dis for awhile but I'm back and all caught up :)

Great updates! Your special meet and greet at the party was awesome! How fun to have the characters to yourselves! And Adam is the cutest Peter Pan ever :goodvibes

Glad you enjoyed the Jungle cruise and all the corny jokes :)

what a great trip! I hope you DO really finish this, Fastpak - your story is so compelling and your son is so CUTE!

I can't imagine the 17 hours drive. We have a 13 hour drive there from here at Memphis. Although it did take 16 hours in Dec 09 because of Thanksgiving weekend traffic outside of Gainesville.

I like that you were able to nap and relax. Unfortunately we never do. We're always up by 5 and at the parks until closing. I actually get less sleep on vacation but it's SO worth it at Disney.

And hello from a former FX worker. I spent 4.5 years at the Memphis hub. I know how long your days are as a driver, thanks for making sure people get their stuff!

What a great trip of updates! I cracked up at the Jacuzzi, although that would TOTALLY freak me out as well. I have a thing about plumbing that starts or stops unexpectedly. Really creeps me out. ;)

The Jungle Cruise expedition is pretty darn funny too! I would have loved to see the faces of everyone else in the boat!!!

I agree with you on Splash at night During Wishes. That has happened to us on BTMRR and it really makes the ride so special.

So glad Adam finally let loose and enjoyed himself on BTMRR. It hink we will give Savannah more than a gentle nudge next time. I know she will have the same reaction as him, eventually!:goodvibes

Love Adam's plate, turkey legs and nuggets! Awesome! :thumbsup2

So glad you got to see Fantasmic without the awful wait, and that you enjoyed it so much! We have not seen it yet, we always end up in DHS on a non-F! day, but now I'm really looking forward to seeing it!

And your CM experience, that is really great! They really do make it special!!!!!:goodvibes

More! More! :)

Thanks. He was awesome for the trip. To this day, he still thinks everything was real. The best part of our Disney trip is yet to come.

I fully intend on it! I would like to get to the cruise next week and the infamous Hotel. Not to mention, we have another cruise coming with a little bit more of a challenge and as of now I intend of TR for that one on the DREAM!

Sometime I wish I could do the whole trip again, so many things I would do different and one would be more down time!! I challenge you leave the park on a 9-9 day, I promise you won't regret it. The one thing I didn't have was a melt down for my kid and I owe that to a break. I thought we were crazy for it too, but its SOOOO worth it. Not to mention, my wife works in a gym with tons of people knowing about our trip. One guy came back and said although it was great he felt that he didn't relax. He went on to say he doesn't know if he would want to go back. Just do it once, and see what happens. :thumbsup2

I swear it was the strangest thing Jen. I really didn't expect him to react like that. It was only after I just decided not to worry about him anymore and have fun he just decided to join in. Crazy.

WwWwWwWwWwHaTTTTTTT?!??! :confused:Are you serious?!

You haven't seen it? YOU NEED TO LEAVE YOUR HOUSE on a off weekend and drive the 1 1/2 hours and see it!! I promise its worth it. I taped it on a Flip and it came out ok but you can see and hear everything. Totally worth it. Try and get a middle area seat! Its 24 minutes of goodness!

Awwww! Poor Amy!!!! I guess no more jacuzzi suits this next trip?:rotfl2 I'm so glad I read this part while DS was asleep though, he would have been on me forever had he seen that you can get pics with Mater! :) I'm glad you guys made it into Fantasmic. Adam looks so cute in his ear hat. :thumbsup2 It's awesome that you guys had a CM do that. I'm so glad your note of praise got her recognized!

Your mom had me all excited tonight when I looked at your room assignment for October, but then Amy said that you guys are on deck 8. Is it October yet?:rotfl:

Can't wait to read more.

Glad you were able to enjoy a relaxing day at the pool, sometimes it needed. So sorry the wifey wasnt able to enjoy her nap better though LOL (laughing with you not at her LOL)

Ok and so glad im not alone but I love the jungle cruise.. mostly for the bad jokes I think thats 3/4ths of the fun LOL

I LOVE Adams dinner, a kid after my own heart!

Glad you got to experience Fantasmic too, the line is ridiculous, we got in just like you but had not the greateast standing room kids on your shoulders kind of seats. But the ride home on the bus they kept saying it was the best show in WDW. Jen go see it.. totally worth it!

Ha and so glad we arent the only ones that force kids on rides.. Ours was ToT, unfortunatly the kids didnt take to it like Adam did. Glad he and you enjoyed.

Your letter and story about the CP CM, is awesome! you are so true there are those that go over and above and make it magical, thanks for sharing your story. Glad they have made you a beliver LOL

popcorn:: I'm here... very well written. I hope you are going to continue through the cruise. I've never read a land/cruise trip report!!!

Sorry I have not updated. Been busy with some other stuff should have something up tonight or tomorrow.
