A very strange thing happened to us this weekend. We went to our local Megaplex to see The Ring ( a very, very scary horror flick). We found the theater which had the sign for The Rign over the door and sat down just as the previews were starting. Much to our surprise, they started showing Disney previews (Finding Nemo, Treasure Planet) and previews for other Family flicks. This seemed strange, but we figured they had gottern the preview reels mixed up. Then, after about the 4th preview, a women sits down next to me with her 2 very young children. At this point, I knew something was wrong, so I asked her if she was there to see The Ring. She looked shocked and said "No, We're here for Santa Clause 2!".
Mandy and I then left the theater and checked the sign over the door again. Sure enough, it now read Santa Clause 2. They had gotten the signs mixed up and had changed them to the correct theaters after we had sat down. So now we had to find our correct theater in a 24 theater megaplex before our movie started. I was just pondering how to go about this when my problem was solved for me.
Suddenly, a bunch of very panicked looking adults with some very wigged out looking little kiddies began pouring out of a theater down the hall. Seems a lot of people who had come for Santa Clause 2 had sat in the wrong theater as well, except this theater was showing The Ring and when the previews started, well lets just say they didn't feature Santa or friendly little elves! Yup, you guessed it, they got some rather intense horror movie previews. I have never seen a theater empty out so quickly (LOL). I am betting the management of that theater caught quite an earful that day.
By the way, if you like scary movies but don't like gore, I highly recommend The Ring. This movie is very creepy, but there is next to no blood or gore. It doesn't need it. This is one scary flick. But be warned, DO NOT take your children to see this film. I don't care how used to horror films they are, this one will give them nightmares for a week.
