Spin off from another thread I just read. I saw one poster say her DH refuses to put any gifts under the tree until Christmas morning. That's crazy I say :rotfl2: When I was a kid some of my best memories are anticpating those gifts under the tree. I loved tryng to guess what they were. A few weeks before Christmas my mother would place a new present or two under the tree every few days. I loved coming home from school and
checking to see if there was anything new presents I could guess at. I used to guess right almost everytime and my brother would get so mad, so one year when I was about 9 or 10 he and my mom wrapped up a potato as a joke because they knew I'd never guess. Come Christmas morning I was so mad because I thought it was going to be this really cool gift. They all thought it was the funnist thing ever. So I always place gifts under the tree about 2-3 weeks from Christmas just like mt mom did. I wrap a couple for each child every few days and place them under the tree. BTW I seen that some people already have thier tree up and presents under:scared1: Still seems way to early, I like my tree up the first week or so in December and down 2-3 days after Christmas. Once Christmas is over I'm done with all of it:rotfl:

Dson-in-law & I do it - after his wife (my DD) and their DD, (my DGD, 13) go to bed.. (I stay with them 5 months out of the year..) I'm not quite sure how the job fell to us, but we normally stay up later than they do and it's fun, so we don't mind.. (Plus he usually doesn't shop until the week "of" Christmas and does his wrapping on Christmas Eve - locked in his office downstairs - LOL) :santa:

After the kids go to bed on x-mas eve everything comes down from the attic. Its all around the house and wrapped and they've seen it, but I like the big wow moment of x-mas morning.

We usually put them all under the tree when we put it up! :santa: We put the tree up today, but dd for the first time ever didn't mention the presents!! I like the idea of putting out one or two a day!! I may torture dd with that this year! :rotfl:

We put the gifts to each other under the tree but the gifts from Santa can't be put under until after midnight.

We start with a few (maybe one for each child), and then I gradually add to it as we get closer to Christmas. The bulk of the gifts stay upstairs until after they go to bed Christmas Eve. I also like that "wow" factor on Christmas morning!

I may not get away with having gifts out early this year. I've got two toddlers that I watch, plus a puppy! I have a feeling nothing will be safe!!!

The only thing that goes under our tree before Christmas is our gifts to other family members, like aunts and cousins, and friends gifts, like to the kids teachers. Our gifts and the gifts from Santa all go out on Christmas eve after the kids go to bed.
I stayed at my boyfriends dad and stepmoms house years ago on Christmas and I wa shocked when the tree looked exactly the same way as it did the night before! I just assumed everyone put the gifts out on Christmas eve, even if the kids didn't believe anymore. Its funny how we always think what we do is the norm and everyone else is weird. :rotfl:

Okay first I have to say the tree doesn't go up until the 15th (A tradition my husband's family does and we decided to keep it), at that time whatever gifts I have for family and friends get put into piles according to families. Then on Christmas eve the kids and our gifts get added at the front. The kids eyes light up in the morning when they come in and see all the gifts under the tree.

We put the tree up the week of Thanksgiving. Then put the gifts under them as they are wrapped. Santa brings his presents early Christmas morning.

We put a few out each day....the kids get a kick out of seeing if they have a new one under the tree or not.

They open presents from each other (siblings) on Christmas Eve.

Santa brings everything else while they are sleeping Christmas Eve.

Same here. I love wrapping gifts so I tend to stretch it out as long as possible. But family gifts go under the tree when they're wrapped. Gifts for DD from Santa & us (Santa doesn't bring her boring stuff like clothes -- mommy & daddy to) go under the tree after she goes to be Christmas Eve.

I'm the one from the other thread whose husband won't put ANY under until Christmas. This is his thing! Nobody in his family does this...just him. If we get gifts from aunts, uncles, etc. I keep them in a closet and they go out with the other gifts.

It's kind of fun going from an empty tree to all the presents.

We put everything under the tree Christmas Eve after kids are fast asleep. My kids are super nosy and would try and figure out what everything was so I like the "WOW" factor and them not being able to ruin the fun of the surprise.

My dh and I are also VERY sneaky. We usualyl re-wrap almost EVERY gift that goes under the tree! LOL! Some small gift may end up being in a refridgerator sized box, or something may be wrapped in 6-8 boxes! LOL It adds to the fun. Also, when everything is placed around the tree for 5 people, it takes up almost the whole room, and the kids come out in the morning completely in awe at the scene of presents.

granted...we have a lot of boxes to burn the following week, but it's worth the shock and awe factor! :)

I put the presents out Christmas Eve after the kids go to bed because they are all from Santa. Even now my kids don't believe and I still do it the same way and it was the way my parents always did it.

I put them under the tree as they are wrapped. For me, wrapped gifts are a big part of the decorations - they're just too pretty not to have under the tree for everyone to look at. Now, when I had little kids, the santa gifts went under the tree on Christmas eve night, but we didn't wrap those.

We put them under the tree as they are wrapped. One unwrapped gift and a stocking from Santa goes there on Christmas Eve. Although DD9 doesn't believe anymore- we will still do this. My mom still does a stocking for me, DH, DD, my sister, her hubby and family too. So I will continue this. I also do a stocking for me, DH and my mom(she lives next door). :santa:
