When do you buy park tickets?

I have had my hotel reservations since end of August, and will be getting my flights booked in the next few weeks, but I'm not sure when to buy my park tickets. I will be getting a park hopper,7 day ticket. Does it matter if I get them way ahead of time or not? This is my first time planning a trip so I'm not sure. Thanks!

There are lots of threads about discount tickets. No matter where you get them, it is always cheaper to buy them in advance. AAA, Disney Store, disneyworld.com, ticketmania.com, mapleleaftickets.com are just a few places that have them. we are going with www.ticketmania.com and will purchase the tickets enough in advance that we will have them paid for before we leave.

You will save some money by pre-ordering them. I would check our homepage here www.wdwinfo.com and look for some ticket info. It will give you a great chart w/ some price comparisons. Also, ticketmania has a good reputation on this board and usually has some good prices too.

Thanks to both of you. If I did buy the tickets now, the myw tickets listed on ticketmania and mapleleaf would still be good in Jan 06,right? I just wanted to make sure they didn't change with the new year or anything.

I like to call Disney and get them added on as the Key to the World option so that I have only one card to worry about.

What is Key to the world? And would that be available since I am staying at the Dolphin?

Your Key to the World is your room key card at Disney owned resorts. The Swan and Dolphin don't participate, so unfortunately, you wouldn't be eligible for it anyway.

You can check out the prices on the DisneyWorld website, and then compare to Ticketmania. I found the ones we want to be +$30 cheaper thru Ticketmania, so that's where were going. The only thing that can happen to affect ticket price in January, 06, is that the price can go UP. Any ticket you buy now, or bought even 5 years ago can be used in the parks in some way, either as direct admission or trade in for an upgrade.

So, even if you get them the day before you leave, it will still be cheaper than if you go to the ticket windows at the park. Saves time, too. However, you will be surprised at the number of people who don't know that. So many don't research their vacations even one minute. That could be what Disney counts on to make money.

Don't know about all AA's but ours here in CT does not offer the add on so that the ticket do not expire. They said you could buy the tickets from there and then add on the no expiration perk when you get to the parks but I think that's a hassle.

No matter where you get them, advance is definitely best.

What a lot of people fail to realize is that if you are buying tickets for a family of 4, you don't have to get all 4 tickets at once. Buy one each month for 4 months. Spread the cost out. It may cost you a few extra bucks in shipping charges, but it's so much easier than having to fork over the cost of 4 passes all at once.

Well now with our change of plans, will be buying them from the Disney website. We are going with an annual pass now. LOL.
