We are going 12/7 to 12/14 and I'm thinking we may go.

I went a couple of years ago when it was just me and my husband w/o the kids. This time he's staying home w/ the toddler and my 2 girls, my mom, my niece and SIL are going.

Does anyone know how late MK is typically open on these nights?

Should we just do the park all day and skip the extra expense of the MVMCP?

We live in MN so we already get snow and hot chocolate here often in the winter and I don't think we will have trouble w/ the ride lines/crowds, so what I guess I'm asking is should we or shouldn't we go? The girls are 3,4 and 7yrs.

I don't remember all the special events that go on during the MVMCP.

Help me decide- it is worth the extra $200?

Hey there MN buddy!

We just did MVMCP the first time last trip. At that time my kiddos were 5 and 6.

On party days, MK does close at 5 or 6pm. But people have reported getting in around that time just with their MVMCP ticket.

The nice thing about it is that there are really no lines! The ticket sales are limited. Not that there are long lines in Early December anyway, but this is even better. So many things a walkon.

Plus there are Xmas shows to watch that they don't do during the day. And MK at night is an experience in and of itself.

I know it's a lot of extra money, but it is more than hot chocolate and snow on Main Street. We thoroughly enjoyed it and are doing it again this trip.

As for dates being announced...we should hear towards the tail-end of April, but they typically have been Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday.

We'll be there Dec 3-11 so we may bump into each other!

We think it's totally worth it to spend the extra $$$ on MVMCP tickets. It's not just about the shorter lines and lighter crowds for us. It's the snow on Main Street, the Christmas Parade, the special shows, etc. It think you would really like it!:D

We did MVMCP twice last Dec.

Tuesday, Dec 2 was the first night. We used this day as a non park day and it worked well. We were able to get into the MK at 4:30 with only our MVMCP ticket. Ate at CP at 5:15 and it worked out perfect. When we were done (6:30ish) we walked right into tomorrow land and were 2nd in line to get our picture taken when they started at 7:00. When we walked out from getting our picture, the line was about 200 people deep. We felt very lucky. On our walk over the bridge into tomorrowland, we were stopped and checked for our wristband and they were still clearing the park. Friday night was our 2nd night and the most busy. It was sold out with, I think, 20,000 people. Which is still way under max for the MK, but we did see a difference, having been there on Tues. I would recommend sun., tues., or thurs. I've heard FL res. go more on Fri nights, making it more busy. Friday was our last night before flying home the next morning, so we just had to spend it in the MK hense the 2nd MVMCP!!!!!

I will say it was worth every penny we spent on both of them.

We, here in Michigan, where we diden't see a day over 20 degrees the whole month of January thought the snow on Main street was AWESOME!!!!!!!!!!!
The Party has a energy about it that is even more magicial.
People are dressed in holiday sweatshirts/sweaters and wearing santa hats and hats that blink.

Tickets went on sale last year June?july.

Also the party goes untill midnight and my 5 year old made it right till' the end.
AND
They give out FREE strollers to ticket holders!!!!!!!!

All I can say is GO....................you will be so gald you did!!!!!!!

Also the CP in Epcot is not to be missed and having little ones I would do a dinner package at Garden grill.

We were also there for the 12/2 party last year and it was the highlight of our trip. We were able to get into the park after 4 pm, and we also ate at Crystal Palace. After dinner we headed over to the castle and watched a show. We got a double stroller for free for our 4 & 6 year olds - normally they didn't use one, but on a late night it was very helpful! We stayed until midnight and had an absolute blast. We hope to go again this year! Oh, and nothing was really crowded and the special Christmas events were really cool. It cost us about $135 for 2 adults/2kids.

Did you pick up your strollers in the front of the park like usual? I'd never heard about the free stroller rental before- thanks for the tip - a stroller would be a great idea for a 6 year old when trying to stay out until midnight!

We're thinking of doing MVMCP on Sun 5th (we'll do a non-park day after moving over from USF and go over at 4 like you suggest) and then again on Tues the 7th. Our WDW trip will be so short (only 3 days) that we figured if we did 2 nights at MK we could save our days for the other parks - we would do AK on the morning of the 2nd MVMCP, take a nap in the afternoon, then back to MK for our final night. I don't think we'd mind 2 MVMCPs - it'll be our first time ever to do this event!:smooth:

We think so we have been to at least one MVMCP each year since 1992.It has become a family Christmas tradition for us.I can't explain it very well,it just seems to charge our holiday spirit to the max.We love seeing the live shows all the little ones in Tigger Santa hats all the smiles and the feeling of joy in everyone. You just feel like this is a great spirit in the MK tonight and I'm a part of it.ºoº

I am pretty sure the free stroller was a fluke. Last time we went, we got the stroller too and it wasn't free. That poster probably got a really nice CM.

I'm just trying not to max us out on this trip and I needed to be sure I wasn't being "DISNEY COMMANDO" as the "expert" in the group.

I didn't want to plan too much and I love the idea of just going at night and relaxing during the day and not using a day on our PH passes.

Is there an official time that you can enter the park w/ just a MVMCP pass?

Party officially starts at 7pm but people have reported getting in as early as 4:30pm. Can't count on it, because this year it might be different. But then again, it might not.

I felt like the holiday shows were worth it alone. It was the highlight of our trip as well and when we go back this December we are taking all four kids and going. I would not miss it for the world!

sanilacjack...I don't doubt you, but I can't see this as being common practice. otherwise, it would have been all over these boards that people going to MVMCP get free strollers.

I guess I should have said, you got a great deal, but I don't know that people can count on it in the future. It woudl suck if they went to get one for free only to find out they had to pay.

I do not have personal knowledge or success at getting a free stroller during either MVMCP or MNSSHP BUT I saw/read many threads here last year about people getting free strollers for the parties and here are a couple of example threads I remembered reading:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=459344&highlight=+mvmcp++stroller

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=477058&highlight=+mvmcp++stroller

We don' t have any kids so do not use a stroller, but I have heard that at both MNSSHP and MVMCP they give strollers that people are returning as they are leaving the park to people that are entering the park for the parties. Maybe you just have to hit it right that someone is returning a stroller as you are coming in.

A cm posted that the reason they started this was so that there would not be a big backup at the security check at 7:00pm. They've allowed admission after 4:00pm the last 3 years. Chances are good they will do it again because I doubt the security checks will be going away.

Boy, am I in the minority here! I went this past year 12/6-12/12 and never did MVMCP. Didn't feel I missed anything either (maybe it's a case of "don't know what you're missing"-also, no young kids, just me). But I was in Epcot every evening that week, saw the CP 3 times, Epcot tree lighting 3 times (Boy, did that make me misty-eyed every time!), and tried to make every Holiday Santa show. MK closed at 7:00 every night if I remember correctly (wait-it may have been open til 9:00 one night-I remember seeing Wishes, think it was Wednesday). However, MVMCP wasn't a high priority for me, when I considered what to spend extra money on. OK, now everyone can tell me that I don't know what I'm missing!

:wave2: We were in WDW Dec. 6-15, 2003, attended MVMCP on Tues. 12/9 (4:30pm) and received not one, but 2 free strollers. No questions asked, the CM's were just sorta pushing (offering) them toward the incoming flow of parents and kids (over by where the stroller rental window is).

Also, I ordered our tickets in mid May 2003 - so that must have been when the dates were posted. :wizard:
