My first trip to Disneyland was May 2009, absolutely fell in love with the DLR now I am anxious to go back again.
For my trip next year I was considering the end of September or the beginning of October. I want to be sure I am there after they re-open HM and SM.
When are the over lays completed? From reading the information on the DLR website Halloween Events run from mid September to the end of October. Are the HM and SM re-open by mid September? It does appear that the Halloween party itself does not start until the 1st of October though, unlike the event at WDW which starts mid-September.

This year they opened on the 17th of this month. Next year it may be different. You should be safe with the end of Sept/early Oct though. :)

Thank you for your prompt reply. I will plan for the end of Sept beginning of Oct.

Just an FYI, WDW's Halloween is stretched out so don't rely on info from WDW to plan on seeing Halloween at DLR.

You can get advance warning from the Calendar (when the rides are scheduled to be down 6+ weeks in advance, it's probably for the changeover) and there will probably be info filtering down to visitors through news outlets and online forums long before that. Disney knows people like to plan their vacations well in advance. :) You can also keep an eye out for the Halloween promotion next year. They'll have to have everything ready to go before the first party night.

But, yeah, second half of September thru the end of October should be a safe bet. Maybe by 9/16/11, almost certainly by 9/23/11.

Keep in mind that the Halloween Party nights require the purchase of a special ticket to stay after dark so plan accordingly.

That is what I was saying, WDW starts so early with their MNSSHP but looking at the Disneyland website the Halloween event this year did not start until October 1st. So if I plan to go the end of September into October next year I should get to see all the decorations at DLR and perhaps get into the Halloween Event as well.

Halloween Time always begins on either the last Friday of September or the next to last Friday of September. This year and in 2007, the season began early, on the next to last Friday. In 2008 and 2009, Halloween Time began on the last Friday in September. When the season begins, everything is up and running except for the Halloween party.

The Halloween Party (whatever it is called, whether it's the Trick or Treat Party or Mickey's Halloween Party) generally begins on the first Friday in October, and then only happens on select nights (which may change from year to year). So the season could already be in full swing for a week or two before the party begins.

So if you plan a trip for the last few days of September and the first Friday of October, you will make it in time for the party and be able to see all the seasonal things.
