When DS has a busy day he can easily sleep 11hrs a night. When is he going to have time to sleep on the cruise? Please dont suggest napping cos it aint gonna happen.
There are a few nights he'll be up late cos of the activities in the lab/pool & pizza party/tropical party. And those will be followed by char brkfast/early immigration in St Thomas, etc.
How are these kids suppose to sleep? Ahhh -- something else to worry about! lol

Sleep? The sign of a good vacation is when you get home and need another vacation LOL

So he won't sleep 11 hours a night, he can easily get 7-8 though.

Ask him if he really wants to do the character breakfast? I woke both my kids 10 and 6 up for the character breakfast, only to find out after the fact that they really didn't care if they went or not. So next cruise we won't be getting up early for a character breakfast. Wish I had asked them if THEY wanted to go, before I assumed they would have.

Also their adrenaline is running so high they need minimal sleep.

Don't worry and enjoy

I was surprised that last year, my then 11 year old son had trouble staying up late for the festivities...he usually goes to bed at 9-9:30 during the school year and we cruised in June, right after they got out of school. He also would NEVER be able to nap during the day and a couple of nights he went down and went to bed around 10 while the rest of us partied!! My 9 yr. old daughter gave it her all and stayed up with us even though we had to pry her eyes open at times. Next year, I am planning on having the kids stay up later a few nights BEFORE we leave (isn't that a lst??), to get used to being up later. There is so much going on on the ship late at night, I hate for them to be too tired to enjoy!!

i let them sleep late....
we did our own excursion, so we didn't get out at the crack of dawn...who cares....it's a vacation...
and we also slept late on CC.....no big deal...
we were always up in time to eat at tritons by about 9:30....
but that's late for us....at home we're eating by 6 in the morning..

Having cruised with our 13 and 15 yr old DD's this past March we found that they did not sleep! or at least enough...and needed a rest from the vacation when they returned home. We were calling down to the coffee house at 1:30-2am to have them come home. A few mornings we just got up and went out and they followed..eventually. I wouldn't worry about it....it's the least of your worries..they will survive! Have a fantastic time.

I also had to call to the Lab to have them tell my DS8 that it was "time to come home". That was at 11:30 or 12:00!! I was falling asleep in the room and the kid was out having a blast! I tried everything to let him sleep in the next morning but, nope, he was up and ready to do it all again. He would come back to the room after lunch a couple times and just veg in front of the TV. Kids are amazing - I wish I had their stamina!! It's vacation - "No worries mon! You're on island time!"

When do they sleep?

On the car ride home from the airport! ;)

When it's time to unpack!:p

When it's laundry time!

:smooth: :smooth: ARE EATING BREAKFAST!!!! :smooth: :smooth:

My kids never got up to eat breakfast........... I'd grab a box of cereal and milk and leave it in the fridge for them. But other than the character breakfast.......they never got up.

smiles Patty
