When do/did you all get your kids school schedule for the 2004-2005 school year?

I'm really getting frustrated trying to guess when my DS will be out of school this year. You know for Teacher Planning Week, teacher inservices, and the various other misc. days they're out. I kept asking for next year's schedule up until the last day of school and the office kept reassuring me that it would be sent home soon. Now that school is out I can't reach anyone in the office to ask. They never even announced when school restarts. But they sure don't miss sending the bills for tuition.
I'm ranting because I really want to plan a week at WDW while airfares are low, but don't want to take the chance of having to pull DS out of school for 5 or more days.

Both the school at which I work and my kids' school (different towns) sent them home months ago--I'm guessing Jan. or Feb.?

Does your school have a website? If so, check there--it should be up.

We got ours the last week of school last year... That really is bad that you don't even know when they start. I would be angry...

Does your county/state Board of Educ have a website? The upcoming calendar is probably available online.

Here, the county presents the school calendar for two years at least one year ahead and there are open meetings, discussions, questions & answers and then the Board votes to approve or change the calendar. I know the school openings and closings thru June 2006 at this point.

I don't know how it is in MI but I cannot imagine that it can be very different. I would guess there has to be a calendar agreed to by either your county or state Bd of Educ. since there has to be a set number of school days. I believe ours is 180.

It's funny you should mention this topic. I also have been wondering when my kids start school and the last day of school. I ended up calling the Board of Ed today to find out. Our school district puts out a paper that comes in the mail every so often. The lady at the Board office said it should be coming in the next week with the whole schedule. They don't have it on their web site. Sure wish our school district would let you know sooner.

OT a little, but a list of what the kids are going to need before school starts would be nice too. We always get it after school starts and a lot of stuff is already picked through or not on sale.

I've had my DD's schedule for this upcoming year since about Feb/March, when they start the re-registration process (and $$ collection). I like that tho, the schedule part anyway. ;) As for the supply list that momof2OH mentioned, I got that last week, with ALL the papers required to be completed for registration day, next month. This is a non-public school, btw.

In our school district we have a school supply list distributed before dismissal for the summer and we have a website with all other info, such as the upcoming school calendar, bus routes, etc.

I would definitely call your DOE or at least search for their website.

Our school has posted the upcoming schedule on their website. Syrprising because they never seem to add things to the site. I just printed it earlier this week.

Our school system is on a web site that you can find out lots of information for the current year and the next year too. I sure helps with planning your life.

Ours goes up about a year prior. Which is amazing, because the school system is notoriously slow with everything else. But the calendar is put up early. Makes it nice for planning ahead.

nope, no idea when the kids have days off, when we register for school, how much book fees will be. After all these years, I have given up getting upset about it, it just makes my blood pressure go up because they will never change. At least one of my kids has been in our school system for the last 15 years and they just get worse about telling us anything. I am someone who saves everything, and the kids will bring a paper home that says the next day is an early release day and I'll get out all my papers and no no early release day listed on any of my papers. Call the school " is tomarrow an early release day I don't have it listed?" Oh, we decided to have an inservce day. Gee thanks for telling me, now I have to arrange my work day with less than 24 hours notice. And they wonder why parents don't get more involved. We would if they would just tell us when to show up!!!

We don't get any kind of notification , but what we do get sometime in August is a calendar with everything listed in it. Very useful for me, this way I can keep up with what is going on in the school.

I get a calendar the first day of school. It might have something on the website though, I hadn't thought of that.

We don't even know when our kids start school. Another parent told me that we are starting on September 1. We have never started before Labor Day so i didn't really believe her. Well I called the school and we ARE starting on September 2nd (the teachers start the 1st). My district has a web site but the calendar isn't on there. The district has not sent out letters or anything with this change (we have always started on either the Wednesday or the Thursday after Labor Day). We won't even get the calendar for the year until maybe the middle of August. I know several people that have vacations planned and their kids will be missing the first 4 days of school.

My kids are going to miss 5 days of school in the middle of September for our Disney trip. I'm hoping they have the 16th and 17th off for the Jewish holiday.

I get my son's calendar from their website. I use it to plan vacations, too!

I got mine in January for next year. So in January, I know the next years schedule.

it was sent home with the kids right before school got out for the summer

Gosh, I feel lucky. Our schools have had their calendar on their website since at least February, and I'm thinking even sooner than that. I started planning our WDW vacation for October around a teacher workday back in February. Sorry this is making your planning difficult, I wonder why they are still deciding on the calendar when school starts in about a month?

We have no calendar yet. The teachers have not signed a new contract so it is all still being worked out.

My neighbor works for our school district. I keep asking if the calendar has been finalized.

We are going to WDW next June and I am coming up on the 11 month window to book DVC reservations.
