It looks as if the waitlist is not going to come through for the week after Christmas. We have a reservation starting on the 2nd of Jan. Will we still be able to see the Christmas decorations?

We always go the first Sunday in January for a week. You will catch a good amount if not all of the decorations on 1/2. Throughout that week, you will start seeing less and less. Check out the hotels. WL and GF are my favorites.

Thank so much. I may go down and stay offsite for a night or too and primarily check out decorations to make sure we catch it all. When we went in Dec. 06 we never made it to the GF or to see the Osborne lights. I want to be sure to catch them.

Osborne is currently scheduled November 28, 2008 -January 4, 2009 so you should be OK.

Good! Thanks again. The first things I am going to do are the GF & Oborne lights.

We arrived this past January on the 4th staying at VWL. When we checked in on the 4th the decorations were still up. However, my 19 year old likes to go down to the lobby of WL late at night (right before Roaring Forks closes) get a small snack and some hot chocolate and just sit and relax for an hour or so in the lobby. That night (about midnight on the 4th/5th) all this activity began in the lobby and he ended up staying there until after 3:00 a.m. watching a crew (he said probably 20 people) "undecorate" the entire lobby of WL. He said it was amazing the way everything is tagged for next year. We were there until the 12th and I would say pretty much everything was "undecorated" by the 8th or 9th. The only exception I can think of offhand would be some of the poinsettias which are actually planted throughout the parks and the bridge between Future World and World Showcase with the thousands of white twinkling lights.........all of the potted Christmas plants were gone from there, but, the lights were still up.

I've been at WDW for a few of the marathon weekends and it's still up then.

We go often that time of year. With Jan 1 on a Thursday, the way it will work is that all decorations will be up through at least Sunday and possibly Monday. One of those two nights you will see them just before going to bed in your hotel and when you awake in the morning everything will be gone.
