I mean, frankly speaking, I can EAT $60 worth of food. In fact, I probably eat $80 worth of food at these buffets. I may be 160 pounds but I can eat - especially on vacation.
Here's the problem I have with this:
1) I can go to STK or any other steakhouse and order a $60 steak that has been aged for 20+ days and is far more satisfying than anything a Disney buffet is offering.
2) This is the same price/dining credit value as a Signature.
Number 2 is a whole rabbit hole of problems. For one, the food, service, atmosphere and quality is nowhere near that of a signature. The other problem I find with this is the looming fact that Disney REALIZES this and that Signatures will soon be 3 dining credits.
If this is true, I get the feeling that Disney is trying to push guests to go with the Deluxe Dining Plan and of course, playing a huge money grab. I don't eat at Chef Mickey's or Tusker (lunch/dinner) so this doesn't directly affect me - but the potential domino effect does.
Just thought of this: This could also be the reason Disney is/was decreasing the amount of character spots in the parks. The decrease in character spots could certainly lead guests to pay the extra fee to get them in the restaurants.
