When did they change these to 2 credit meals?? NOW $60!!!

All the character dining went up to $59.99 per adult (10 and over).

Glitch again??? I doubt it.

These meals have no set prices. Pricing fluctuates based on the time of year & $59.99 is given as the highest possible price point. Nowhere does it say that these meals will now ALWAYS cost $59.99. That's probably the Thanksgiving & Christmas price, if it's accurate.

While I've no doubt that prices will continue to increase, I'm with you. The prices on the site are banded, so for an adult, this meal will cost between $35 and $60. Doesn't mean that they're all going to be $60 all the time.

Edit: That being said, the prices have entered obscene territory.

Chef Mickey's if over $51 per adult for dinner. I am surprised it is not 2 credits!

Please triple edit you OP and title. That $59.99 has been on the buffets FOREVER. Unless you can point to a restaurant that you KNOW is charging that amount, your spreading false information.

always? b/c every source I've found (food blogs and other disney info sites) had places like Chef Mickeys in the low $40 range.

that said, I heard that this is the surge pricing model–which is still way overpriced—but is there a calendar or schedule as to when those prices are in effect? I have not seen any.

I heard on Dis-Unplugged that these will go up to two credits in the fall.

I also heard this Tuesday and totally believe they will have 2 credit buffets this fall.

No way this was a glitch, computers can't pull info out of thin air. A computer won't randomly change a 1 to a 2. A human updating the system put in the correct info just an incorrect start date.

Yes, really. The Disney site and many other sites usually just show a range of prices for the buffets/AYCTE places because there are different prices during the year. The $59.99 has been the top of that range FOREVER; it is not new and it is not the price of the buffets. This range pricing is one of the reason rustyscupper did the sticky at the top of this thread, so people could know what the price really is.

Hmm... I just re-read the top of the first post of that thread and I think he said something to the effect of range pricing looking like it's going away. I got the impression all these places will be at the top end of the current range on a permanent basis as of Oct. 2. I'll go read it again, but that was what I surmised.

EDIT: Direct quote from the 1st post of Rusty's thread: "It appears that "seasonal" pricing has disappeared,"

I believe that is what he's trying to say, but is stating it as fact, and we have NO confirmation anywhere that that is going to happen. It is rumor! The range pricing is still on Disney's site.

And you can trust rustyscupper will update the Buffet/AYCTE sticky as soon as there is ANY change.

I mean, frankly speaking, I can EAT $60 worth of food. In fact, I probably eat $80 worth of food at these buffets. I may be 160 pounds but I can eat - especially on vacation.

Here's the problem I have with this:
1) I can go to STK or any other steakhouse and order a $60 steak that has been aged for 20+ days and is far more satisfying than anything a Disney buffet is offering.
2) This is the same price/dining credit value as a Signature.
Number 2 is a whole rabbit hole of problems. For one, the food, service, atmosphere and quality is nowhere near that of a signature. The other problem I find with this is the looming fact that Disney REALIZES this and that Signatures will soon be 3 dining credits.

If this is true, I get the feeling that Disney is trying to push guests to go with the Deluxe Dining Plan and of course, playing a huge money grab. I don't eat at Chef Mickey's or Tusker (lunch/dinner) so this doesn't directly affect me - but the potential domino effect does.

Just thought of this: This could also be the reason Disney is/was decreasing the amount of character spots in the parks. The decrease in character spots could certainly lead guests to pay the extra fee to get them in the restaurants.

Disney is going to have a really you know what storm if they come up and tell people who have already planned their meals for their week, that it will now cost them double for their meals from the entitlement. It would have to be something that started on reservations made a X-date I would think. We have booked at Chef Mickey, Ohana, Tusker House, and Akershus Lunch. There is no way we could get around having to pay double because we have the "normal" dining plan.

It sounds to me like they are just going to trying and drive everyone who wants to eat toward the Deluxe Dining Plan moving forward if they do in-fact go to 2 credits per...
