When Did Everyone Start Dressing Like Strippers?

My biggest complaint is the fat hanging out for the world to see. I need to lose weight (and Im working on it!) but I would NEVER wear a shirt to show how much belly fat is hanging over my jeans. Im with the previous poster who said, why would a girl think that a short shirt and loose jiggly flesh exposed is at all attractive?

If a woman is in good shape and is scantily clad, I dont necessarily thinks its appropriate for the Disney venue, bu at least Im not screaming "My eyes, My eyes" and left with a twitch for the better part of an hour.

First of all, a legitamate question. Do stores (Old Navy, Gap etc...) Still sell jeans that arent low rise??? I havent found any for my 14yold in a looong time and gave up that fight. (She does pull them up though, as to not expose her panties) As for tops, hers have gotten smaller, but I am a lucky one in this dept. My dd is modest, and even wears a tshirt over her bikini to swim (no shes not a blob of fat, like her mother)

DD is offended though, by peoples privates hanging out. Privates are called private for a reason, is kind of a family ethic. As for me, a 220 lb blob of fat, when I visit a theme park or water park, I may wear a tank, without my belly flapping in the breeze, and I always keep my moon in my pants. For a water park, its a bra, tank, undies and shorts at all times. No one has ever complained (they wouldnt want to see me in less! :earseek: )

That said, does anyone else worry that we all sound like a bunch of old fuddy-duddies? There's definitely an aspect of "oh, I remember when movies used to cost a nickle," and "I just don't understand why that Elvis man has to shake his hips so much," and "remember that great blizzard of '62" to this thread.

probably to the 70 yr old mentioned above it does but really imo while styles change do you really have to be a slave to them and throw away any sense of decorum?...i know teens want to fit in but it sounds like most of these examples are lots older than that and still don't have much in the way of sense. :rotfl2: i don't know that low rise ( don't mean down to the crotch low rise) jeans and a shirt that shows a little belly are the problem...it's more the attire that not that long ago would have been porn type attire.

you can control what your child watches on movies or tv but not what they see someone wearing at a family oriented them park. world of difference imo. who could honestly not think it makes an impression on a child? why do they market to kids then ? and where did these little ones get the idea to dress provacatively? certainly they don't "deserve" to be molested but why would you want to dress some way to encourage some pervert looking at you or your child? we don't live in a vaccum

And I thought it was just my age showing.....we saw a woman get off of the bus and walk into the MK is a string black bikini with a see through white cover up on and they let her in! We've been goint to Disney for 15 years and don't vacation anywhere else. The last few years we've really noticed that the "classiness" of the parks is slowly going away, it's sad.

Hey im 20 and a male... and I think its pretty wrong. Guess Im old fashioned in my young age :)

We were most shocked by the MOM'S!!!!!!!!!! Wearing the little lace teddy's out in the middle of the day. I think some fashion designer is just laughing his butt off that he has convinced women it is THE thing to do. First I thought it was someone trolling...then along came her kids and dh. Then I started noticing more and more of them around the park. Women in their 30's, 40's and older!!! Some had the figure, some didn't....but either way, it seems inappropriate....ESPECIALLY at Disney. And I wonder what message it sends their young children (some had teenage children and the dds were dressed nicely while mom looked anything but "sweet"). Just amazing. :rotfl:

i'm only 22 and i find it disturbing... Disney is primarily for kids... why do these people feel the need to dress like that? it's like a car crash... you can't help but stare, horrified!

and i hope they're all wearing sunscreen!

and as for kids' clothes getting more and more slutty... geez.. even I'M noticing that now...

Well, certainly tastes have changed in 40 years; not sure if anyone wants to champion the 60's look.

As for the pictures, Danthesand; well, I did a google image search on the two ladies, and found some remarkably prim & proper photos of Christina, and some shocking & revealing ones of Annette (including one of her all tarted up in dance-hall girl attire for the *gasp* Golden Horseshoe Review). I guess anything can seem perverted or rude if the viewer is determined to see it....

curious if could you post the link to that? after reading your post i did agoogle search also and the most "risque" one i saw was from the beach movies which is not even close to what you see at any beach today( or evidently at wdw either). seem to recall something about morality clauses with the original Mousketeers also so that's shocking if true

Yes, but the difference is that Danthesand posted pictures that are representative of the typical dress of each. Whereas you referenced the minority of pics of Christina and one pic of Annette which appears to be a costume, not a representation of how she normally dressed (and even that pic was not as revealing as many of Christina). In no other pic, did Annette even get remotely as provocative (in attire) as Christina

As you illustrated.

yes, you guys are getting old. :rotfl2:

naw sometimes people go TOO FAR I agree. This is coming from a 19 yr old.. I simply don't look and could care less what other people have on, but if I was a parent and had little kids it would probaly bother me..

Maybe these people aren't trying to wear shocking attire, but rather trying to save money with some new low-airfare where you don't check in any luggage.

Just think about the space you save by packing a thong bikini rather than a full t-shirt and pants.

And maybe they are just trying to be courteous to the rest of us, by not taking to long at the entrance inspection. Not many places to hid things there.

Now see here. This is exactly right! Look at both of these two. I am a 26 year old guy and have to say that Annette Funicello is so much more beautiful and classy and just overall attractive than that pic of Aguilera.

To the guy that said I was judgemental because I said that "class" is gone. That's not judgemental and I never said they can't be at WDW.

Sheez, ever notice how someone takes someone's opinion, criticizes them for it with another opinion? If I want to say that I think it's not classy to dress a certain way, that's my right and opinion, just as it is your right to disagree, but when you say that Im wrong for my opinion, you are being nothing more than hypocritical as you are doing the same thing.

and anyway... it can't be comfortable going on the rides with all your *ahem* bits hanging out... ;)

O.K. everyone, hold you breath....and if you're readily upset, please don't view the horrific, tasteless, "shocking and revealing" photo below:

Somehow, I think Christina has that beat in her sleep...or stated differently, if I anyone wants to get "banned" from DIS, there are literally scores of photos of her readily available online that would immediately do that job if they dared to post them here!!!!

I'm more interested in learning when the gals start UNDRESSING like strippers.
