When daylight savings time ends...

I don't like when it gets dark by around 5:00 because my night vision is really bad so I'm basically stuck at home in the evenings from Nov until March (April?).

My great grandfather was a farmer and NEVER followed daylight savings time...NOT EVER. The clocks stayed the same year round. He thought it was quite silly.

This is why Queensland doesn't have DST. They think the dairy cows will be confused.

And something to do with the curtains fading with all the extra sun.

I do not complain when daylight savings time ends. I always look forward to the weekend when it does... longer Saturday night yay. I don't mind it getting dark earlier, it's fine.

I had to get up before dawn in the winter, using extra heat/electricity getting ready for school/work. Not very energy efficient.
But under "standard" time, it gets dark earlier, so you'd use that extra heat/electricity at night. I don't see how anything gets "saved". I also agree with those saying leave it one time all year long. It makes most logical sense to split the difference (30 minute shift), but that would possibly cause issues for those who work with folks overseas.

Me, I'd prefer it be light later than earlier.

I'm not a fan of daylight savings either. I prefer it being light out when I'm on my way to work (I get up between 4-4:30 am so it's obviously still dark) and love that it gets dark early. The whole "the sun is still out at 8:30 pm" thing can shove it as far as I'm concerned. :upsidedow

I hate it. My youngest doesn't get off the bus till about 3:35. By Dec it'll be dark here by 4:15. That gives the kids almost no time to play outside. Which means they are in the house going stir crazy & fighting with each other. Makes for a long afternoon/evening. Hopefully it will help with my 2 older ones getting up for middle school but i'm not sure anything will help those two!

And think what that does to the milk!!!! :rotfl2:

I don't like the sun coming up an hour earlier because that means the dog will wake me up earlier to go out and be fed. When the kids were little, same thing. I'd rather sleep in and stay up late. Dark by 5pm stinks too.

HATE it when it gets dark early- I would rather get up in the dark and have it dark for a couple hours while I am at work and have it light out until 8pm! It is so depressing when it is dark before 5pm, I can't stand it! I don't like moving the clocks back and forth- We should move them 30 minutes and then never touch them again!!

I'm happy about it, because right now it is pitch black dark when my kids get on the bus at 7:00 am. There are a lot of kids at our bus stop (which is in my front yard) and a couple of them are a bit wild. I'm terrified that one of them is going to run out into the street in the dark and get hit by a car. I'll be much happier when we can see everyone!

It's stupid. They should just stick to a time zone. I complain about it every year. I usually complain more when Daily Saving Time starts, actually, since that's my problem. Standard Time for everyone!

But if were were standard time all year that wouldn't be happening right now.

But it would be dark earlier as mentioned and leaving all those kids with excess energy stuck in the house.

Be dark in the morning makes it easier to sleep in. :)

First, an article on why Daylight Savings Time sucks and why many of the myths about why it came to be and why it benefits us don't hold water:

Unhappy Hour

My plan: let's leap forward once and never leap back (i.e., live permanently on DST, as we did for most of WWII and for over a year in the 70s). It gives us the benefit of the late summer evenings without the soul-crushing agony of it getting dark in the winter by 3 pm (an exaggeration, but not much of one). I'll vote for whomever supports this plan, I don't care who they are or what party they're in.

I really hate losing the hour at night. We live in Florida, and this is the time of year when it finally gets down to 80 degrees before the sun goes down--so I can take the baby outside and watch the kids play. But then it gets dark at 6, so we lose that if we don't push dinner back. Then I'm feeding a toddler at 7pm and the rush to bed is like a rollercoaster.
Anyway, I wish we could just end DST altogether. Because the time change with a baby and a toddler...ugggggggggghhhhh.

I'd much rather it be lighter later in the evening than in the mornings. So yes I complain. If it were going to stick one way year round, I'd prefer it to be the DST way, so just NOT falling back one year and leaving it that way.
