If I am correct you can book a room anytime as long as you put down the $200 deposit. We don't usually book until the deals come out.

We will be there right before Christmas and staying til the 1st of the new yr. My friend who is a TA is planning our trip and she said she has to wait til June for us to be able to get our last day.

You can book a "room only" reservation at 500 days out from your check out date - so you could do that now. Generally speaking vacation packages for the next or upcoming year come out in August. You just have to pay one night's deposit for a room only reservation - also they will warn you that the room rate is subject to change based on the next year's rate.

Starting this year, your next year's rates are locked in. So if you book a Jan 2013 room now, you'll pay a percentage higher than what it was this past January (for a value, for example, it's a 4% increase). It used to be those rates were subject to change but they are no longer doing that.

I am interested to see if room rates go higher than those increases when packages come out in January.

The rates for 2013 might be out in June.
2012 rates came out in June of 2011 but it could be as late as August.
