When Are Target Toys Going 75% OFF

I spend around $36 and got

Star wars people (about 3" tall nine figures) in a long box $12.48
2 star wars people 2 in a box $2.49
barbie doll 2010 christmas one- huge red dress $5.49
pixos 2.48 x 2
some figure that you only put clothes on $2.49
Littlest pet shop maybe 12 pets in a box $5ish
and one other thing can't remember what

There was another star wars item I would have liked but it sold out prior at 50% off for $69-too much for me. I knew I wanted the star wars item with the figures above I was not sure if it would be still there when I got to the store-two were left. I did tell a lady I know in the store toys went to 75% off right now in the back, she left the area she was in and went straight to the back (lots of grandkids).

I almost didn't go out today but got to Target about 930ish and the employees were still marking down the toys to 75% so I was able to load up. Before I left the sale aisle it started getting crowded so I can't imagine there is much left now.

I generally buy the cheaper toys $5 or less unless it's something I know someone will really like. I did score one of those Tonka Ricochet 4x4 remote control things for $19.99 (reg price was $79.99), which was my most expensive item. My mom got one of the big Buzz Lightyears that has a remote control. They were usually about $100 and she paid $25.

This weekend I might try another store although I'm not expecting much.

I had to stop in my Target after seeing that toys were going 75% off. I was pretty disappointed.

There was one Lego Power Miners set there, which I carried in my cart the whole time, but eventually put back. It was 50% off, but still more than I wanted to spend on something my kids didn't really want. I did find a cute Toy Story 3 train set, but ended up putting it back too because I think it would be one of those things my son plays with for 2 minutes and then forgets it.

If I had a little girl, I would have been all over the cute Princess kitchen set and table/chair set. But my little girl is way too old for that stuff!

But I did find a pair of sneakers for my youngest for $5. And I bought 4pairs of shoes for my 1-year-old niece - for about $12!

Less then half of the clearance toys were left when I was there. I thought there would be more as we were all snowed in yesterday, but the shelves were picked over.

Glad I went back to Target this am. All the toys were 75% off. I got some ridiculous deals. Overflowing cart and stuff in my hands for $100.

yeah. I'm really mad. I had gone to Target this morning a little before 9. the signs still said 30% and 50%. I scanned some things and they were not 75% off. I bought one 50% off toy and left. Came on these boards and after reading so many posts about 75% off called the store and was told that things were now 75%. I didn't really understand that but went back anyways being told that there was still a ton left. Got to the store and there was nothing. Maybe one shelf of the Tangled table and chairs and some Twilight Scene its. Nothing like I had seen this morning. I asked to see a manager and asked why when I was there this morning nothing was on sale but later in the day things were marked down. She did not have a reason but apologized. She gave me the number for corporate and told me that she would talk to the people that do the markdowns to find out why they didn't do them first thing in the morning. I spent 20 minutes on the phone with corporate to find out that they can't do anything for me that I have to deal with the store directly. :confused3 I'm just super annoyed. I would have bought so much this morning when I was there. I don't understand why the sale wouldnt' start first thing this morning when the store opened.

The mark down team has to manually scan each item for it to get marked down and stickered. They are responsible for doing this to each assigned department for the day. I guess each store has a specific order that they do mark downs for the day. Toys are always last at our store. I personally think they do this just to tick people off, but maybe there's another reason. :confused3 I usually get there early and just stalk the markdown team. I was actually able to convince one to scan my cart full of stuff earlier in the day during the July toy sale.

Sorry you're upset, but that's how things work at Target. I follow a very helpful thread on another chat board that explains the mark downs and which department goes when, etc. I don't think I'm allowed to post a link here, but if you PM me I'll give you the info so next time you can be better informed.

Does anyone remember when the toy markdown in July was? I'm guessing a Thursday, but wondered if anyone remembered which one.

Saugus, MA store is stuck at 30% off, with a few Lego space police sets at 50%. Good amount left there. Danvers, MA is at 75% but not a lot left. Plenty of Liv dolls, zhu zhu accessories and zhu zhu babies, paperoni sets.

Glad to see that not everyone is at 75% yet. Revere MA is only 30% too with a few 50% items thrown in. Hoping it goes to 75% soon!

I am guessing it will be July 28th this year. I believe it's always the last Thursday in July.

Do keep in mind, some Target stores are going 75% off sooner than others -- so that they can clear the shelves (if it's an older store without the red walls) and relocate the toy department (as many of the older stores are now going through a complete remodel to a completely new layout which will offer an expanded grocery section).

The mark down team has to manually scan each item for it to get marked down and stickered.

I've never understood why Target's system is set up this way. If something is going to be marked down it doesn't get activated until the markdown team scans one of the items. Then it "unlocks" the clearance price for those items whether there be one or 50.

When I worked retail in college, the store I was with put the clearance price in the system and it was active when it entered the system whether we had physically marked down the items or not. This way if we were doing markdowns and something was purchased that was on our list for the day but we hadn't yet put a markdown sticker on, the customer got the sale price because it automatically pulled in from the system.

I would think this is the better way to do it. Because then you don't have to worry about the single items that float around a store and are hard for the markdown team to find. The customer can determine the price by the scanners and choose to purchase it based on the true discounted price instead of having a pair of flip flops in December that never got marked down and are still ringing full price.

Just my two cents.

I agree. I don't understand this way either. It should already come up in the system. That's how it was when I worked in retail too. I worked at the Disney store for over 8 years and the prices just showed up in the system for us.

At Target, I feel like the days after holidays (Christmas, Halloween, etc) when items get marked down the prices are automatically in the system. There aren't prices on the products themselves, just signs up that say what percentage off the items are. why can't they do this with the toys? or other items even. just a thought. not really looking for an answer, but just wondering... :lmao:

I DID go back, but I was a little too late in the morning. I knew it was 75% off as soon as I got out of my car. People were pushing overflowing carts to their cars. I hustled to the toy section but it was pretty well cleared out already. Pretty disappointing since I'd been there twice already after reading this thread.

I did get two Polly Pocket sets, one for a party today and one for DD's birthday. They were $35 down to around $8.
All the Strawberry Shortcake stuff was gone, that's what I was looking for.

I also got a Zhu Zhu pet thing for $3 which was great. I'm saving that for DD for Valentine's day.

I got the Our Generation pop up house which was down to around $14.95. DD has two of the dolls, so I know she'll love this.

I got a little Tinkerbell set (polly pocket size) for $3.

It's good to know ahead of time about the summer sale, I'll be sure to check in here and then stalk the employees every morning until they do the markdowns.

Our Targets seem to mostly have boys toys. I hardly ever get much for girls on clearance. I did get some Littlest Pet Shop things and some Tinkerbell thing (I have no idea what they were - I have 2 boys. lol). I like to get them for birthday parties DS goes to (he's 4 - all kids get invited to the parties in his class).

I ended up getting about 10 different Lego sets. They were 50% off, but I figured they'd be gone by 75% so I just got them. They make excellent birthday and Christmas presents for close friends and family (I rarely use them for "random" parties).

I got a bunch of boys toys - a huge racetrack, Chucks playground (or something like that), a few Star Wars toys.

Off topic slightly - I got a Nordicware spritz cookie press for $2.48 and a container of Nordicware cookie cutters (100 maybe?) for the same price. Also lots of Yankee candles for 75% off - they were $3.48 - $4.24 depending on size. Those make good gifts, too :)

And now I've reached by twice-yearly look from DH that says to stop going to Target for a while. :rotfl:

I stopped by today and our store was cleaned out! There was less than 1/3 of an aisle just on one side, a far cry from the 3 aisles on Thursday morning. The only legos were Ben 10 and there were some Cars stuff, but otherwise nada.

I went to our Target on Thursday, and the signs for the toys said at least 30% off, and most were marked 30 or 50% off. Well after reading all the stuff here I decided to check, and found most were scanning 75% off. Spent about $100. Got the Disney Zippity Leapfrog mat game for $20. An imaginext pirate ship for $8.74, a couple of batman villain cars for $3.28 each. A bunch of NCF mini robots/Pandas/Tribots for $1.99 to give out at DS's birthday party as favors. There was a lot left, probably because none of it was marked yet. They had a lot of lego stuff, but I have no one for legos yet. They didn't have duplo. Also got 4 Monster High predictor things (kinda like macamera for $11.24, I think it is the video camera and a 24 piece puzzel for 98 cents. We have more boysgic 8 balls) for $2.17 each and a set of text message walkie talkie type things for $3.74. Three Tag reader books at $3.48 each, a bakagan toy for $3.02. Also a kid tough camera, I think it is the video camera. I have more boys around now and DS is not in school yet so I stuck with the "boy" toys, but we had a lot for both.

I stopped in today and they had a display of the exact same Liv dolls that I got on clearance for $4.50 for $18!
