When Are Kidani Rooms Being Updated?

I have faith they will do a decent job in the rooms but what scares me is the mention of renovating the lobby to "match the refreshed look and feel of the rooms". The lobby is so goregous, it would be awful if they paint it all beige and add modern furniture.

I would expect they will lighten up some of those darker browns with golds and tans, like they already have, but more of it. If they get rid of that nasty carpet and replace it with hard floors and improve the lighting, that would go a very long way. They already did a lot to brighten the rooms when they got rid of those bed spreads and went with white and a bed runner and pulled all of those dark pillows.

Imagine this throughout with different flooring, slightly lighter with some golds and tans added among all of that dark brown and red. If they reupholster the chairs with a lighter color, which they already have in some rooms, and update the curtains, it would make the room crisp and brighter without hurting the theme.

We owned at AKV for 10 years and never once was there any kind of notice. Just warnings about going on your balcony nekkid because of cameras on the savanna. Room decor will not make any difference.

Yea, always a funny warning with the way the rooms face each other in areas - and lots of cameras - apparently not all of them focused on the animals on the savanna!!

They mentioned the refurb during the December meetings but I’m not sure if specifics were included

In the December meeting all that was pointed out is that we should be really happy with the results

I am pretty sure at the December meeting, Murphy style beds were specifically asked and they replied with something along the lines of “where space would allow”. Making me think, the value rooms may be left out

Previous upgrades to DVC studios (and 1BR) have involved replacing queen sleeper sofas with queen Murphy Bed units. Whether or not they also add a single to some of the rooms is unknown (at least I don't know!). The DVC sofa beds are used hard and really don't make for a decent night's sleep anymore, so I'm glad to be rid of them (since I'm often the one who gets to sleep on it!).

I think the PP was referencing the Jambo value rooms and them being left out for new Murphy Beds - that's quite possible, since they might be too small to hold the MB unit.

I personally think either the studios or the 1 bedrooms will get the 5th sleeper. This would align with all other resorts (besides RIV and GF) that would sleep 9 in a 2 bedroom lock off.

I think they will keep studios at 4 and 1 bedrooms at 5.

The 1 br.s (except the values) currently sleep 5, the 5th bed is the sleeper chair. I personally hope they keep a sleeper chair since it’s larger & an adult can more comfortably sleep on it v. the small pull down singles under the TV which are more child sized IMO.

Have they already started the reno? We're supposed to be at Kidani in a couple of months, and now I'm concerned we might be moved.

Reports indicate Kidani refurb begins in October, 2025, and will run into next year. Since this has been planned for a while now, I doubt they'll be moving people to other rooms - hopefully, they've already planned having the rooms unavailable throughout the refurb, before reserving them.

Yes, let’s hope it’s well planned like BLT’s rather than the debacle that was BWVs!

Kidani's splash pad was closed this past Jan/Feb for work, so the whole pool should be good for a while!
