Whats your Wedding Song?

We didn't dance at our wedding, but we did have a song.
Lovesong by The Cure. (HATE that horrible 311 cover btw, completely makes the song so boring and annoying). We chose it because
1) we LOVE the Cure. They are one of our favorite bands.
2) the lyrics are so sweet.
3)Robert Smith wrote it for his wife Mary for their wedding, so that's perfect

Ours was Bryan Adams - I'll Always Be Right There

You won't hear it very often on the radio but it's the perfect wedding song IMO!

I swear to you-I will always be there for you-there's nothin' i won't do
I promise you - all my life i will live for you-
We will make it through forever-we will be together-you and me.

Oh n' when i hold ya-nothin' can compare
With all of my heart- ya know i'll always be-right there

I believe in US- nothin' else could ever mean so much
-you're the one i trust our time has come-
We're not two people-now-we are one-
Yeah- you're second to none forever-we will be

Together-a family
The more i get to know ya- nothin' can compare
With all of my heart- ya know i'll always be- right there

Forever- we will be together-just you and me
The more I get to know ya- the more i really care
With all of my heart- ya know i'll always be...
And ya know i really lave ya- nothin' can compare
For all of my life- ya know i'll always be-
Right there

Good Luck with your decision!

DF and I are considering that song, but we would use the 311 version. :goodvibes (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=egX9ZDaIrkU)

The other ones we're considering are an acoustic version of Incubus' "Stellar" (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xyu29Q-K0LU), and "Dig" by Incubus, as well (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nMsZ6wkZWhA). DF and I are both huge Incubus fans, and one of our first dates was to their concert, so we're trying to settle on one of their songs if we can. :lovestruc

:rolleyes1 :lmao:

Gee thanks! Different strokes, I guess. ;)

Ours was 'What a Good Boy' by Barenaked Ladies. They're our favorite band and the song just fits us, but it's not what you'd call a traditional love song.

If I were choosing today I'd go with 'Buy a Dog' by Luce. Once again, it's very indicative of us, but not necessarily of anyone else.

Ours was in my life by the Beatles...Love it

There are places I'll remember
All my life, though some have changed
Some forever, not for better
Some have gone and some remain
All this places have their moments
With lovers and friends I still can recall
Some are dead and some are living
In my life, I've loved them all

But of all these friends and lovers
There is no one compares with you
And these memories lose their meaning
When I think of love as something new
Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more

Though I know I'll never lose affection
For people and things that went before
I know I'll often stop and think about them
In my life, I love you more
In my life-- I love you more

My wedding song was "Longer Than" by Dan Fogelberg and I also walked down the aisle to that.

Billy Joel - She's Got a Way

My husband and I have different tastes in music, so one evening we were sitting on the couch with the computer trying to find a song that we both liked for our first dance. I got to this one and played it - all of the sudden he was singing in my ear and I melted.

We both loved the song, but still weren't sure.

A few weeks later my sister came to visit and I asked her if she had any ideas. "She's Got a Way" was the first song out of her mouth.

Seemed like fate.

We also chose a "last dance" song - Come Away with Me by Norah Jones. It was perfect.

"Embraceable You" by Etta James for our first dance.

"All I Want is You" by U2 for the last dance. We wanted to use "All I Want is You" for our first dance, but it is way too long!

Cross my heart George Strait was our first dance which was odd as neither of us are country fans, but we both loved the lyrics. I walked down the aisle to Celine Dion, Because you loved me.............

"Bless the Broken Road" By Rascal Flatts. Neither one of us is a country fan but when I heard this song on a tv show, I knew that it would be our wedding song.

This was DW's and I song as well. We were each in bad relationships before we met each other. The words seem to describe what we each went through and how we each felt about each other. It is still our favorite song to this day.

We had debated between this song and "Beautiful" by Jim Brickman & Wayne Brady. We finally found a way to use both. DW walked down the aisle to "Beautiful" and of course we danced to "Bless the Broken Road."

You can click HERE to listen to "Beautiful" on YouTube.

We had an intimate Disney wedding, (Sunset Pointe at the Poly) so our song had to be one that a violinist could play. We chose What a Wonderful World by Louis Armstrong. If we would have had a traditional wedding, we would have picked I'll Back You Up by The Dave Mathews Band. The bolded portion is why I love this song so much.

I'll Back You Up

I remember thinking
I'll go on forever only knowing
I'll see you again
but I know
the touch of you is so hard to remember
but like that touch I know no other
and for sure we have danced
in the risk of each other
would like to dance
around the world with me
I'll be falling all about my own thing
and I know your the heaviest weight
when your not here that's hung
around my head
and your lips burn wild
thrown from the face of a child
and in your eyes
the seeing of the greatest few
do what you will, always
walk where you like, your steps
do as you please, I'll back you up

I remember thinking
sometimes we walk
sometimes we run away
no matter how fast we are running
somehow we keep
somehow we keep up with each other
I'll be falling all about my own thing
and I know your the heaviest weight
when your not here that's hung
around my head
and your lips burn wild
thrown from the face of a child
and in your eyes
the seeing of the greatest few
do what you will, always
walk where you like, your steps
do as you please, I'll back you up.

The Sweetest Thing by U2.

Picked because of the line "A blue eyed boy meets a brown eyed girl, Ohhh, the sweetest thing". That's us!

Ours was 'Maybe I'm Amazed' Paul McCartney. It was the only thing DH had an opinion on with the whole wedding.

Ours was "More" by Harry Connick Jr.

We were having trouble coming up with a song, nothing seemed to quite fit. Two weeks after the prorposal we went to his concert and he opened with this song. Right away, we looked at each other and said "that's it". We have this little saying that we use and the lyrics just mimicked that saying to a tee.

More than the greatest love the world has known
This is the love I give to you alone
More than the simple words I try to say
I only live to love you more each day
More than you'll ever know
My arms long to hold you so
My life will be in your keeping
Waking sleeping laughing weeping
Longer than always is a long, long time
But far beyond forever you'll be mine
I know I've never lived before
And my heart is very sure
Noone else could love you more

Both of us being children of the 60's, we chose "Groovy Kind of Love"

The lyrics still hold true today, even if you do get strange looks from everyone but Austin Powers when you use the word "groovy."

We used the Phil Collins cover version, not the original Mindbenders.

:hippie:

We got married in 1993 and our song was "Have I told you lately" by Rod Stewart!!

We got married in 1994 and that was our song too!

Our last dance was to A Whole New World from Aladdin.

Open Arms by Journey

We picked it because we broke up and then got back together because we realized that we could not live without one another just like in the song :)

We were married in 2007 and are children of the 80's
