Whats your Wedding Song?

I love the lists, some I know & some I don't but I'm looking them up.

DH picked Eric Clapton's "Wonderful tonight", he just had the band change the words to 'long brown hair'.

Didn't have one. :(

Our reception was outside, and it rained on our wedding day (held off for the ceremony), but by the time of the reception, we had to move to our "alternative" location. There wasn't room for the DJ in our alternative location so we didn't have a traditional reception.

We had "My Love" by Lionel Richie as our first song. And we had "We've Only Just Begun" by the Carpenters as our last song. I wanted to cry when we were dancing to our last song - still get teary eyed when I hear that song. :lovestruc

Randy Newman - Feels like home

DH and I didn't have a fancy wedding, just a courthouse wedding. But, we did use some of the lyrics from "Always and Forever" by Heatwave on our wedding announcements...

Always and forever
Each moment with you
Is just like a dream to me
That somehow came true

Ultimately our songs are "I Melt with You" by Modern English and "Yours" by Blues Traveler. And if we had done a fancy wedding, we would have incorporated all three songs in some way.

Here are the lyrics for "Yours". I think this song is achingly beautiful. It really brings a tear to my eyes every time I hear it.

"Yours" by Blues Traveler

You, with your and outstretched
finger on the key
this lock that You release
is opening but isn't free
and i hope that You can see
how it beats inside of me
instead of pushing fear aside
i want to run, i want to hide
i am vulnerably Yours
She, who is wanting me
Whose touch can make me cry
i can only understand
by never asking Her why
hear the contradictions fly
and as hard as i may try
every truth becomes a lie
in the ache of Her reply
i am passionately...
Yours
and the saddest eyes are
Yours
and the softest skin is
Yours
and the hope i borrow is
Yours
so won't you let me in, i'm Yours
all that i begin is Yours
every prize i win is Yours
at your feet again, i'm Yours
all i am is Yours
all i am is wanting You
i've fallen down and i can't seem to come to
if i shoud die before i wake
i commend my soul into this ache
up above the world so high
where the water tends to meet the sky
She's all i'm after by the toe
and i won't let go
and i wanted you to know
that if you reap what you would sew
i would take it blow by blow
all i am is...
Yours
and the saddest eyes are
Yours
and the softest skin is
Yours
and the hope i borrow is
Yours
so won't you let me in, i'm Yours
all that i begin is Yours
every prize i win is Yours
at your feet again, i'm Yours
all i am is Yours
Yours

My parents wedding song is Always and Forever, I think that song is so pretty! Whenever we are at a family thing with a DJ I make sure it gets played and dedicated to them lol. I always complement them on what a pretty song it is and my mother always answers "Your Dad picked it out":lmao:

Ours was "The Luckiest" by Ben Folds. DH and I both had the idea... and thought of it before we were engaged. He played it on his iPod right after giving me the ring.

Length of song is a key factor! I felt like we were out there forever!

This was our song as well. I'm a huge Ben Folds fan and the song is so beautiful, there was never a doubt that it would be our wedding song. We even named our daughter after a Ben Folds song.

OP- of the list you posted, the Elvis was my parents wedding song and that was only because their band got drunk and that is what they played. It was supposed to be "I Love You Just The Way You Are." I don't care for Amazed, only because I can count on both my hands and some feet the number of weddings that I've been to where they have used it as their song and I'm Amazed out.

My sister recently got married and their song was "Lucky." I can't remember the artist, but it's a fairly popular singer on the radio (currently) and a lady. Something about "lucky to be in love with my best friend..."

"You and Me" by Lifehouse. It was the first song we danced to together, at our senior homecoming.

ok, kind of odd, but En Vogue: don't let go. we saw the movie Set If Off and the song was about being more then friends, etc. we didn't play the whole part, but it replaced the wedding march. We were married where we lived by a JOP.

But if I get married again: i love that song by big and Rich Lost in the moment with you.

We're going with Faithfully by Journey but we're Gleeks so the Glee version and we chose to just dance to their regionals mega mix of Journey into Loving Squeezin Touchin/Anyway you want it

You say it best when you say nothing at all by Allison kraus. I just have always loved this song. It was perfect for our wedding and spoke so true of our relationship. Sometimes I even joke with my husband that he says it best when he says nothing at all (he has been known to talk a lot) our little inside joke!

You are so young to be able to appreciate Journey :upsidedow! I'm amazed at all the old songs getting picked by upcoming brides and grooms!

Jason Mraz and Colbie Calliat, fiance HATES Jason Mraz:guilty: i like the song though, its him lol

We danced to "Can't Help Falling in Love", and it was so fun to practice our dance to it. It's a nice waltz, one two three one two three one two three...

And then our live (Irish) band's singer started it WRONG, got us off on the wrong foot/feet/everything, and our whole waltz fell apart. Ended up just swaying after I whispered "please let's just sway", with a big dip at the end.

So either hear your band's singer do the song ahead of time, or just use a recording...that's my advice.

And we chose it because we liked the song! Felt right. :)

But the song we mainly remember was our recessional...the theme from Indiana Jones. :) And I walked down the aisle to just the band's singer drumming on the bodhran (handheld drum), like in the beginning of Braveheart (though I don't know what sort of drum they used), and it was AWESOME....

"All My Life" with Linda Ronstadt and Aaron Neville. It was perfect.

Am I really here in your arms
This is just like I dreamed it would be
I feel like we're frozen in time
And you're the only one I can see

Hey, I've looked all my life for you
Now you're here
Hey, I've spent all my life with you
All my life

And I never really knew how to love
I just hope somehow I'd see
Oh I ask for a little help from above
Send an angel down to me

Hey, I've looked all my life for you
Now you're here
Hey, I've spent all my life with you
All my life

I never thought that I could feel a love so tender
Never thought I could let those feelings show
But now my heart is on my sleeve
And this love will never leave
I know
I know

Hey, I've looked all my life for you
And now you're here now you're here
Hey, I've spent all my life with you
All my life all my life

Hey, I've looked all my life for you
And now you're here now you're here
Hey, I've spent all my life with you
All my life

True Companion by Marc Cohn.

When i was in college I heard the song... I knew when I heard it that it would be my wedding song (I hadn't even met DH yet). Luckily he was fine with it.

This was our wedding song.

All of You
~ Julio Iglesias and Diana Ross

I've never had this feeling before
I've never wanted anyone more
And something in your eyes tells me
You feel the way that I do
(I feel like you do)
If you would like to stay here all night
You know that I would say
It's all right
Though I'm saying yes
I confess
I've got more on my mind
'Cause I want more of you
Than your time

All of you, your body and soul
Every kind of love you can express
All the secret dreams you've never told
I want everything
And I'll take nothing less
All of you as long as you live
Everything you've never shared before
I want all of you that you can give
All your joys and all your sorrows
Your todays and your tomorrows

How I long to feel the warmth of your touch
And then if I'm not asking too much
I'd like to spend my life wand'ring through
All the wonders of you

And when we're lying close in the dark
So close I feel each beat of your heart
I want you to reveal what you feel
All you hold deep inside
There is nothing I want you to hide

All of you, your body and soul
Everything you want this love to be
I want all of you
All that you can give
And in return for all your giving
Let me give you all of me

All of you, your body and soul
Every kind of love you can express
All the secret dreams you've never told
I want everything (everything) everything
All of you as long as you live
(As long as you live)
Everything you want this love to be
I want all of you
All that you can give
In return (in return) I wanna give you...
Let me give you

Whats your wedding song and how did you pick it?

We are trying to pick out our first dance song and we are having trouble..here's our contenders:

Can't Help Falling in Love~ Elvis Presley
Amazed~ Lonestar
Everything I do, I Do it for You ~ Bryan Adams (its almost 7 minutes long though! LoL)
This I swear~ Nick Lachey
Glory of Love~ Peter Cetera

This was mine, and I remember every 7 minutes plus 20 years later. Best decision we made!!
