Whats your opinion?

that circus circus sign with that clown just looks like a freak show ha ha. Now IMHO the gambeling should stay in places Vegas vs Centeral FL. DW has said a few time would it be nice if there was like Vegas style resorts casino areas in Orlando so we don't have to travel to both, lol.

Now if they would build a nice resort like the Venetian, Wynn, Bellagio with a casino it would not be that bad IMHO, vs a rat hole.

Just remember, the odds are in the casinos favor. Gamble long enough and they have all your money.

I put $1.00 in the poker slot and won $4,000.00 the hard way. It was dealt to me. Three years later I still haven't lost it all back. Why? I go only twice a year and limit my play to $50.00 each time there.

I know some people who have paid for additions to the casino. They think they can win....which is sometimes yes, most of the time no.

That all depends on competition. We have two of the largest casinos in the world here in CT and nothing about them is dirt cheap, they do not compete with each other they complement each other. Now that Mass. has legalized gambling (at least for 3 casinos and a couple slot parlors) we will see how that affects the CT casinos. One of the CT casinos is bidding for a Massachusetts license; I hope they do not get it, because that would eliminate the chance for competition.

Same thing in Florida, if there are only a couple casinos, nothing will be Dirt cheap. In Vegas you have a bunch of casinos right next to one another, which creates true competition and good rates.

Maybe casinos will be the Kick in the Pants Disney needs to get back into some good nightlife.
Lol, there's a bowling alley on the way, that should answer Disney's nightlife issue! And point well taken. I thought, given the fact that casinos can do exceptionally well with the "gambling" aspect, that they would offer accommodations relatively cheap to compel guests to stay longer in the casino and gamble more. :)

I'm sorry, but capitalism isn't about squashing competition--it's about embracing it.

Look at what Herb Kelleher (former head of Southwest Airlines) did in Texas-he lobbied lawmakers to vote down Texas TGV, high-speed rail connecting major cities there. What Mr. Kelleher did was effectively reduce the number of transportation choices for residents of Texas and visitors to the state. Why not just allow his product (his airline) to prove it was the better choice? Because he was afraid of the competition.

I'm not really a fan of casinos, basically because 95% of them are smoke filled, but Disney should NOT be trying to lobby against another business venture in a capitalist society.
I see your point and I agree with you. But, I also can understand why Disney is looking out for their best interests. :)

Lol. I apologize for the "clown" pic, it is dreadful, just don't look at it anymore, I don't. That's the only pic that I found for that hotel. :(

The photographs and my reason for choosing the aforementioned casino's were to illustrate an era when casino's actively sought to market themselves (in part) to the same demographic as Disney. They have since abandoned this concept as it was unsuccessful.

The casinos listed above precede The Wynn, The Palms, and other casino's you mentioned. If those casino's were to come to central Florida or Miami, I will definitely go there, if only to shop at their fabulous stores! :goodvibes

So, it would be very interesting to see who would be the "target" demographic for an Orlando area casino. as mentioned above casino's can be tricky by marketing to both families and adults only. :)
