My DH and I are finally going to sneak away to WDW in May for our anniversary without our 2 boys. We've been many times to WDW but never just the two of us. I'm not too concerned about where we are staying but interested in different romantic things to explore, favorite restaurants, etc. I appreciate your creative ideas!

DW and I had the Romantic Evening (I believe that is the correct name) Massage at the GF Spa, during our honeymoon....

Romantic, relaxing.........absolutely wonderful........

A little pricey, but well worth it, if you are splurging on yourselves...........I'd do it again in a heartbeat, if we brought someone along to watch our DS..........

Last time I went, I thought that the restaurant in the Mexican Pavillion at Epcot looked very romantic. It was lit up with candles. I didn't eat there but DH and I said that we will definitely do it next time we go. Of course DD didn't seem to like it!

My husband and I traveled to Disney for my birthday (without the kids) last Labor Day weekend. Some of our favorite things that we did together included:

*staying after the fireworks at the MK and watching the Kiss Goodnight from a bench in front of the castle
*riding through el Rio del Tiempo on a boat all to ourselves (thanks to a very nice CM)
*eating at Le Cellier
*watching Illuminations together

But the best part was just being together! It was so refreshing to be "selfish" and do whatever we wanted to do whenever we wanted to...without having to worry about the kids. It was also wonderful being able to ride our favorite rides together! With four children, I never get to ride with my sweetie on anything because I'm sitting with one or more of the kiddos.

You will have an awesome time!

Just being at WDW w/o kids is romantic. Stroll around World Showcase, after Illuminations. The park is empty, the CM's are extra nice, and the atmosphere is unforgettable. Sleep in, that's always great. The great part of going w/o kids is the ability to slow down and smell the roses, so to speak. You'll be there during the Flower and Garden show, so that should be easy to do. Enjoy some of the great restaurants at different resorts. Places you wouldn't normally take kids. We have found each park offers enjoyment for adults w/o kids. At MK, we love watching Belle's storytime. Sounds corny, but it's really fun to watch other people's children have fun here. We also like to eat here when it's not being used. At MGM, breakfast at the bakery is great, then take you time walking through One Man's Dream. Also explore New York Street and take silly pictures. For some reason, being silly with your spouse is a great way to spark romance. At Animal Kingdom, get there extra early to ride Kilamanjaro Safari; look for Devine; watch the bird show; and really explore the trails around the Tree of Life and in the Oasis. Finally, at Epcot. It's the best place for romance. Dinner in France, snacks in Italy, a boat ride in Norway. Epcot, taken slowly and enjoyed to it's fullest is what we love.

Other things to enjoy: Miniature golf, the different spas, golfing, an Illuminations cruise (or better yet, a cruise on the Breathless, that's on my list for May 2005, our 25th). A late night walk on the Boardwalk. Carriage ride at POR (Take the boat from DTD and make it extra special.) I could go on. As you can tell, we love WDW w/o kids. Our kids are grown now, but I wish we had found out how great it was years ago. Once a year romance at WDW is a great way to keep your relationship revved up all year long.

Its not really romantic, but our favorite thing to do without the kids is to go to Jellyrolls on the Boardwalk. We have only had one chance to go there and we had a blast. We will be returning on our anniversary this summer when my mother watches the kids for a night.

Dh and I were in the World for a few days in September w/out DD. One night we went to dinner at the Yachtsman Steakhouse at the Yacht Club, and really splurged on ourselves - appetizers, steak dinners, champage, dessert - the whole shebang (they have a nice dessert sampler for two). It was pricey, but well worth it - dinner was excellent, as was the service we received there. We followed up dinner with an evening at Jellyrolls, which was a blast. I don't know if you would consider it "romantic" but it was a wonderful night out for just the two of us!

We had dinner at the top of the Castle for our anniversary! We timed it with the fireworks for that night, and requested a table against the windows (which wasn't guaranteed!) At the time I made the ressies, I mentioned it was our anniversary. Not only did we get the table against the windows and saw the fireworks during dessert, we got a *gift* from our server! Peter Pan and Prince Charming (an odd combination!) were both there circulating, and Prince Charming said to me: "I see you've already found your Prince".

You guys are the best! I have a question...what's Breathless (the cruise) that tc mentioned. I am clueless. And is Jellyrolls a dance place....I've seen it but never been inside.

Thanks...keep the ideas coming!

The Breathless is like the Illuminations cruise, but instead of a pontoon boat, it is a fancy reproduction boat of some kind (sorry - I'm obviously not a boat expert, so I'm not sure how to describe it). I think you can find more information about it on the Illuminations thread.

As for Jellyrolls, it is a "dueling piano bar." Basically, there is a small stage in front, with two pianos. The piano players take requests from the audience, and play & sing the songs. It makes for a great time. The variety of music they know & play is amazing - everything from Billy Joel to Kermit the Frog (Rainbow Connection) to Def Lepard and beyond. They also get the audience to participate at times by singing along, or by bringing people up on stage. I had alwyas talked about going there, and we finally made it on our last trip - we stopped in for a drink and ended up staying all night!

Hi,

My boyfriend and I celebrated our 40th b-day this past July in WDW without the kids. Everything we did was romantic from sharing exotic foods in Animal Kingdom, to singing along at the Hoop-Dee-DooReview. Perhaps my favorite thing was eating icecream sandwhiches at Sleepy Hollow while watching Ciderellas Castle change colors as the sun set. I also enjoyed strolling through all the shops both at MgM and Magic Kingdom.

Also on this trip he proposed to me on Main Street. it was a big surprise and he did it infront of a photographer.

This was the most romantic and magical day of my life!!

Enjoy your trip

Thanks for posting this! We are leaning toward eating at YSH before going to Jellyrolls on our anniversary. Sounds like that worked well for you guys. :D
