Cape May Clam Bake. It is not a character meal but has loads of seafood and non seafood items such as u peel um shrimp (hot or cold), clams, mussels, salmon, ribs, carving station, mashed potatos, salads, breads and corn breads, veggies, and a huge selection of desserts, too.
not a fan of buffets but we always go to trails end, good food, reasonable price, like the "atmosphere" of FW after the hubbub of the parks..a buffet is a buffet imo but hubby loves it.
I'm not a buffet fan, but just because it hasn't been mentioned, we did enjoy the Biergarten. Good, filling, tasty German food.
(Call me sacreligious, but I think the party may have enjoyed it more than Boma - but it may have been expectations. I was disappointed in Boma, but I'd heard such great things. On the other hand, we decided on Biergarten at the last minute and I had low expectations).
The Akershus in the Norweigan pavilion at EPCOT is a must!!! The food is to die for and the prices are very reasonable. Please trust me on this you must try it!
tiggersmom, just want to politely ask... you are not the first to so highly recommend Norway but I have to say, reading the menu and even looking st some pix...it looks so gross to me!...tell me what makes it so good to so many? I am not a picky eater, am open to new things but this one just seems beyond my abilities..course then I am also sure I am missing out!
Thanks
We love Akershus in Norway, but then, we are from Minnesota and the food is very familiar to us (smile). There is a lot of fish (different kinds of herring and salmon), as well as different cheeses, breads and all kinds of salads. The hot portion was also quite good, but then, we really like rutabagas, cabbage, meatballs and gravy. They have always been very nice about letting people go and take a look at the buffet to decide if it is right for you.
I'm not the biggest fan of the food at Biergarten (ok, but not great), but I do like the atmosphere and entertainment. Its a good one to try if you want something other than the standard American buffet stuff.
don't want to get too ot here but what does herring taste like? is it really fishy and oily ?( for some reason I assume it is) that is what grosses me out! the hot stuff sounds good..we do have a sample day so maybe i'll see if we can look it over for next time! thanks for not being offended!
I loved Biergarten and also enjoyed Akerhus - I'm not a very adventurous eater either.
Just had Cape May and it was so-so. The all you can eat seafood was super but the rest was pretty blah buffet fare, nothing special. The dessert table was just ok, I heard it used to be so much better.
jann1033, I don't find pickled herring really strong tasting, but that is in part because it is usually in a mustard sauce, cream sauce, wine sauce or dill sauce. Dill is a pretty common seasoning in a lot of Norwegian food. About the only type of fish I don't care for is lutefisk (cod that has been "preserved" in lye and is best described as a fish "jello"), but that is Norwegian immigrant food and not to be found at Akershus.
My spouse and I both love the shrimp salad that Akershus serves for supper, and while he doesn't like the smoked salmon very much, he does always make sandwiches with the cold roast beef and ham found on the salad bar. The Norwegian food at Akershus is fairly representative of what I grew up eating, but my spouse and I don't care for the food at Biergarten because I cook that stuff all of the time and what I make isn't so heavy and greasy tasting.
