What's your favorite beer?

An abbey style tripel for sipping or a farmhouse saison when a thirst quencher is needed.

Lately I've been drinking Brother Thelonious. I also like most German beers. I hate hoppy beers - tastes like soap to me.

There haven't been too many beers I don't like.

For bottled at home, Yuengling. I prefer draft so sometimes we get a growler filled and bring it home.

I don't like beer at all, and my husband is a home brewer. Everyone else raves about his beer.

I'm not sure why IPAs seem to be the buzz right now.

Totally agree! :confused3 I'm sick of going to places and all unique beers on tap are IPA's. Enough already.

My favorites tend to be wheat beers. Hoegaarden is one I go to regularly.

Other favorites include:

Leffe
Boddingtons
Moerlein Helles
Alaskan Amber
Bells Oberon
BJ's Harvest Hefeweizen

ETA: I really miss Caffrey's Irish Ale. I loved that beer. :(

Oberon Is my all around favorite.
Rubaeus from Founders if I want something fruity. I'm partial to local/craft stuff, which works out awesome because I live in Beer City USA where we have a crapload of awesome breweries :drinking1

It's definitely a matter of taste. However, one of the issues with hoppy IPA is that it's really hard to make a good one that isn't bitter, especially when bottled. I know it's not to everyone's taste, but Pliny the Elder on tap is sublime.

I have found one IPA I liked: Dale's. It comes in cans and from what I understand it has a very high rating. I like wheat beers, brown ales, stouts.

I like sampling different beers. I usually get something I've never heard of if I'm in the mood for beer. As long as it's not one of the thick hefeweizens or Guinness I can usually drink it.

I'm no beer snob though. My favorite beer gets low ratings but I like it. It's Shock Top's pumpkin beer sold only during the winter.

I've never liked beer. In college I learned to tolerate it but didn't really enjoy it.

A few times a year I'll take a sip of DH's beer. He likes Corona.

ROOT beer

Boylan's Birch Beer is good too.

This one?

All I could find was "Deviant Dale's", which is certainly a more interesting name.

This is the I've been talking about:

A lot of the higher alcohol IPAs were inspired by Pliny the Elder. It's also extremely hard to find. Most stores now limit purchases to a single bottle. The brewery even went to unmarked delivery vehicles when people started following their drivers around to get a jump on buying it. Now I don't know if any beer is really that good that one needs to tail the delivery driver, but it's probably the beer that is most responsible for the current trend of super hoppy double IPA.

I'm not an IPA gal, too hoppy for my taste. Nor am I a bud, coors, or hard cider fan. That leaves me going to a bottle at a pub, which is a bummer.

I just wish they'd have a little more variety. All IPA's I find annoying since it's not my flavor. Give me one unique beer that isn't an IPA on tap. I'll even take a porter! Anything different.

Can you get a sense I'm over this IPA fad. ;)

I brew my own beer. Right now brown ale is my favorite as it is my most current batch. Detest Bud, Miller, Coors, etc.

I don't usually like beer because it's kind of bitter for me but I have found that I like German wheat beer. There's a brand called Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier which is pretty good. I will usually choose wine over beer though.

Weihenstephaner is hands down my favorite beer, especially their dunkel. It's the world's oldest very, only been around since 101 BC, they must be doing something right.

I don't really mind as long as it's good. I am a bit amused the at the OP self-identifies as a beer snob but mentions Heineken.

Mass produced lagers are technically brilliant though. I've talked to people in the beer industry, and they talk about the big name lagers like Budweiser, Coors, Heineken, and PBR with reverence. They don't have big flavor, but it's hard to make a product that consistent where there's little to hide any off flavors. A lot of flaws can be hidden when there's a lot of hops or malt to mask them. It's also remarkable how Budweiser can be made in 14 breweries in the US and others around the world, and it tastes the same. While at a school camping trip, a brewery worker was drinking Bud and talking about how much they're admired in the beer industry.

There's just so much out there. I personally don't get the big deal over Belgian or Belgian abbey style beers. They're OK, but some will go to extreme lengths to track down some obscure beer made by a dozen monks who haven't spoken in 5 years.

Anyone tried a sour beer? I member my first time, with a sampler tray of different beers in 2 oz glasses. The guys at the next table saw me make a face and said "so you hit one of the sours?" It was also really expensive. I ended up buying a 12 oz bottle for $13.

I like it in small
Quantities, but more than 1 glass/bottle and too much sour for me.
