What's your favorite beer?

Go to beer (what I buy at the supermarket and get 9 out of 10 times at the pub): Ninkasi Total Domination IPA.
Kind of a fan of: Hop Valley Vanilla Porter (but only get at Hop Valley, a local brewey, as is Ninkasi).
Favorite packaging and darn tasty: Arrogant Bastard Ale. Still crack up at "You're not worthy"

I like it in small
Quantities, but more than 1 glass/bottle and too much sour for me.

Over at Russian River Brewing in Santa Rosa, California, the sours on tap are only sold in 2 oz glasses. I don't think many really want more than a shot glass of a sour at a time.

I don't really mind as long as it's good. I am a bit amused the at the OP self-identifies as a beer snob but mentions Heineken.

Mass produced lagers are technically brilliant though. I've talked to people in the beer industry, and they talk about the big name lagers like Budweiser, Coors, Heineken, and PBR with reverence. They don't have big flavor, but it's hard to make a product that consistent where there's little to hide any off flavors. A lot of flaws can be hidden when there's a lot of hops or malt to mask them. It's also remarkable how Budweiser can be made in 14 breweries in the US and others around the world, and it tastes the same. While at a school camping trip, a brewery worker was drinking Bud and talking about how much they're admired in the beer industry.

There's just so much out there. I personally don't get the big deal over Belgian or Belgian abbey style beers. They're OK, but some will go to extreme lengths to track down some obscure beer made by a dozen monks who haven't spoken in 5 years.
Yeah. You said that already. :rolleyes2

A good name or an interesting label sometimes goes a long way. Someone mentioned Arrogant Bastard from Stone Brewing, which has a demon on the label. However, for true weirdness there's Sierra Nevada's Hoptimum IPA, which uses some technique called "dry hopping" (don't ask). Then there's the disturbing label of a hop flower instead of a head.

I have worked for a brewery for nearly 20 years and have only started drinking/enjoying beer in the last 6 months. I do NOT like hoppy/bitter beer.

I do not have a favorite right now but do enjoy wheats/hefeweizens and stouts. I also enjoy the new alcoholic root beers too.

Dry Hopping is added hops in the fermentation tank not in the boil. In general this will add more hop aroma than bitterness. In general most IPA are dry hopped. Some more than others.

All I know is that Sierra Nevada does a great job even with huge production runs. I guess Hoptimum is dry hopped, but their Torpedo IPA uses some sort of torpedo shaped device to do their dry hopping.

They operate a tasting room in Berkeley called the Torpedo Room. Heck, I'm thinking of going there right now. They only serve beer in sets of four 4 oz glasses. To go they have stuff that I've never seen elsewhere, including some of their Beer Camp brews where they trade recipes with breweries around the country. They also have this fancy filling machine for growlers that uses an injection needle.

@bcla what would you expect to pay for a bottle of that Pliny?

Under $6 including tax. My source has been raising the price gradually. The brewpub in Santa Rosa can sell up to three cases to anyone for $5 plus tax per bottle, if they don't run out. My local source used to sell up to two bottles per person until they were down to their last case, when it became one. Now they'll only sell one.

The bottles are 510 ml. I have no idea why it's that size.

Harvest Moon Belgian White....which I can't get here :(
and Yeungling light beer...which I also can't get here...but thank goodness we get lots.of out of state visitors.
And we will be in Yeungling territory soon enough!

And absent the beers I can't have...I will settle for Coors Light.

ETA. Spell check changed it again. Ugh. BELTIAN white.

Sierra Nevada IPA ---- Heck! I love all Sierra Nevada beers!
Red Hook

I also put my beer in the freezer for 10 to 15 minutes to get nice and cold! Yummy!!!

This is the answer that came to my mind.

I am not a beer drinker. I can't stand the taste or smell of it. I am more of a wine or fruity cocktail drinker.

Something with an umbrella?

I agree with those of you who are not fans of the hoppy beers. I got the opportunity to try Heady Topper and to me it was the worst beer I've ever tasted. I'll stick with Stella.
