Since beer goes with burgers and we were talking about them....what's your favorite?

I realized I am a beer snob.. I cannot stand the thought of Budweiser (I know..very unAmerican!) and I really don't like Corona.

My favorite right now is probably Heineken. As a matter of fact, I have some chilling for later when I float in the pool.

I don't usually like beer because it's kind of bitter for me but I have found that I like German wheat beer. There's a brand called Weihenstephaner Hefeweissbier which is pretty good. I will usually choose wine over beer though.

Beer snob and you say Heineken is your favorite? Nothing wrong with it, but most beer snobs talk about flavor bombs or something that's super hoppy or super malty. Heineken is a relatively mild tasting lager. It has more flavor than a rice/corn adjunct lager like Bud or Coors, but it's certainly not a bold tasting beer.

For an affordable beer, I'd say Sierra Nevada Pale Ale or Lagunitas IPA. If you're talking something special, then Blind Pig or Pliny the Elder from Russian River Brewing or West Coast IPA from Green Flash.

Maybe you'll enjoy this article on the difference between a beer geek and a beer snob. The gist is that a beer geek is picky about drinking beer, but a beer snob is picky about what others drink. I wouldn't say I'm either. I'll drink anything from Bud to an imperial IPA.

I love trying different local beers. My current summertime favorites are Lansing Brewery's Amber Creme Ale, Arcadia's Whitsun Ale, and Atwater's Dirty Blonde. At the ballpark last week, I recently tried a new one, Latitude 42's Nectar of the Goddess, which was amazing. Very fruity. Now I have to try to find it to have at home.

I like citrusy beers, but not sweet. The exception to that is UFO Grapefruit Shandy. That's one of my favorites for summer.

I generally don't like IPA's very much because I'm not huge on the bitter/hoppy flavors.

The ones I buy the most are:

New Belgium Fat Tire

I like Brooklyn Lager or really anything from them.

Blue Moon is my go-to if I'm out.

I'm far from a beer snob.

It depends on the season. On a hot day in the summer eating a grilled burger I like Brooklyn Summer Ale. I also like Harpoon UFO Big Squeeze. But that's mainly because I'm a grapefruit freak.

I'm a beer wimp. My favorite is Schofferhofer grapefruit. DH's is Innis and Gunn Rum Cask or Wiseacre's Gotta Get Up to Get Down.

I agree--and I'm a life-long beer geek/snob and I'm not sure why IPAs seem to be the buzz right now. I try all kinds of beers except the fruity ones, I don't want sweet flavor in my beer. Full disclosure: I did have a little bit of lime in my Corona last night.

Are you in the Lansing area? Old Nation Brewery in Williamston has some great beers and great food!

I'm partial to IPAs myself, although I don't drink much beer anymore. Doing the low carb thing.

I like fruity, but not sweet if that makes sense...
Like this one was delicious because it has a tangerine flavor without the sweetness(and it's not terribly bitter):citradelic_l.png

I was never really a beer person until I met DH's cousin. When I first met her she was studying to become a certified circerone. Part of the studying is tasting :) Now she hooks us up. We tell her what we like and she delivers. She's never suggested or given me anything I didn't like.

I like a wheat beer like blue moon, or a wheat with fruit. Proof Mango Wit is my absolute favorite. Wachusett Blueberry is great too.

I'm a wine guy, but like wine, whatever YOU like is good.
My son is the beer snob, and I think his answer would be "any IPA beer you can only get on tap"

I might drink beer 6 times a year, but to be honest, there is nothing better than an ice cold Bud on a 100 degree day after you have been out working in the yard.
