What's with the Wait list Confirmation???

I believe they do have CMs assigned to this function. Have been told that they work them in the order of arrival (i.e., those with start dates of next week get worked before those with arrival dates a month from now, etc). These CMs get pulled to work phones when phones are busy, though, and lately, there have been complaints of long hold times.

Wish they'd add a software notification when a waitlist matches with a note that a confirming reservation will be ready soon.
Yeah, I don't have a problem with them taking some time to make the transaction. I like getting my WL so if it takes them a week to process...no biggie IMO. I also had one (back in July) where I had a WL but grabbed another option I saw open up (but had to borrow more points to book it). As I booked I noticed my WL had disappeared and was perplexed. Then I saw that room, I had WL, pop up the next day as available so they had it held for me but in the time it took to process I used the points for another option (and borrowed more than was needed for the WL so I didn't want to switch). From now on, when I have a WL, I will just call MS to book something instead of WL or to cancel WL...just to be sure it's not processing.

I had a wait list for a single night at the Beach Club for early December and I had given up on it so I deleted the waitlist and almost instantly that night showed up as available. Ill make sure to call in next time before I cancel a Waitlist again

I have to agree that there should be a better option than calling in to Member Services....if the wait list is matched it should process automatically and electronically.

Just my opinion...

It isn't really necessary to call in but if your thinking about canceling or are impatient it's a good idea. I believe it would be difficult to have the system fill it automatically because of members who have more than one contract.

It used to be automatic and I would receive a confirmation for the waitlist. Now, it does look like you have to call in. I had a waitlist for October 23rd. It was suppose to expire 30 days before check in. I noticed that it was still showing up on my dashboard, so I called to see what the issue was. They had been holding the waitlist for last 10 days. They told me it cleared on September 23rd, but nothing was done until I called in today.

but I have to wonder how many times I have changed or canceled a wait list that had already matched but we were never notified.

This happened to me exactly. I was missing a Saturday night in the middle of my otherwise full week at BLT.

I was going to take a Poly studio when it popped up and cancel my Saturday BLT wait list. I only called Member Services to buy single-use points rather than borrow. While on the line, they asked as an aside “will this replace your wait list because it has been matched?”

I happily redeemed the wait list and got the week at BLT.

If I relied on the online system, I would not know my wait list was fulfilled and would have booked myself a split stay.

Yes I can verify this as well by my own testing, as long as no one else has a waitlist that can grab that room (based on their waitlist criteria) and you cancel your waitlist, the room becomes available again on the RAT as soon as you cancel your waitlist. This confirms what the MS rep told me.

Also a side note as a FYI, you can have 2 waitlists per UY, so currently I have 4 in my account area.
