What's with the oval at BCV? (Now with photo!)

"Out back" at BCV is an oval sidewalk that connects to nothing. It is visible from most rooms with Epcot view. We are at a loss to explain this landscaping artifact. It neither contributes nor detracts IMHO; it's just pointless. It looks like somebody had some concrete left over when they were doing sidewalks.

Does anyone have an explanation?

My 9yo son became obsessed with it during our recent stay and insisted that I time him running around it; so we did. (He's not very fast; his 6yo brother is nearly as fast as he is!)

We used it to make sure the boys got worn out and would sleep well. They also had to continually run around it. They called it the NASCAR track for kids.

It's a magical meditation circle.......If you meditate there at roughly 9:00pm, lasers and fireworks appear. Strange, very strange but true.

Cleary this will be the training track for the Disney female roller derby team they are fielding in 2004.

Poor erikthewise for asking this question! I don't think anyone really knows the answer, but they sure were humerous responses!!:teeth:

This is why I love this board. I really got a good chuckle reading this at my desk. I myself have never seen the oval, but now I will be sure to check it out! It's great to connect with such witty people who share my ridiculous obsession!

Marges, my thoughts exactly! While I'm eating lunch and indulging in one of my favorite pastimes, it brought a smile to my face. Especially needed after the week we've had !

I noticed it when we were there in Oct. Thought it interesting. Glad the kids have had fun with it. They are so creative sometimes!!

Too much altitude. Too little O.;)

I posted this same question back in Nov,never got a definitive answer either. I'm leaning towards a croquett court.

Will definitely have to check this out when I am there in June. Love the responses. Does anyone have a photo? Annmarie

We have a photo; I'll see if I can get it up Monday morning. DW doesn't do digital so I'll have to scan it at work.

I've never heard of an oval croquet court. They are supposed to be 5x4 rectangles.

I'm guessing it's part of a hidden Mickey.

Erik, my apologies for my previous answer. I thought you you referring to the other oval at BCV. Now that I see the exact area you are referring to, perhaps I can put this to rest.

This is where The Raliens meet The Mother Ship (every second Thursday of the month) and perform their clonings.

Again, sorry for all the confusion before, as at least now you have a straight answer.

Maistre Gracey,

That explains it. Since we checked out the morning of the second Thursday of the month (really!), we missed the festivities.

But I think you're pulling my leg.
Not about the Raelians and alien cloning, I believe that!
It's the OTHER oval at BCV -- I don't believe it!
Of course if it were there, it would give us a good start on J. Cricket's hidden Mickey.

Okay...

I called my guide and he checked with management and here's the story...

It's actually the Seven Dwarfs who are forming the core of the new Disney Roller Derby team, to go with the Anaheim Mighty Ducks and the Angels. I guess Disney is trying to get into every sport!

ROTFLOL, I was wondering what it was for too. I guess it's one of lifes strange mysteries :smooth:
