What's with the Jesus skywriting?

Because it is the apologist avoiding the lack of verifiable results.* Replace "God" with "Vishnu" or "Beelzebub" or "Bill Gates" or (insert "deity" here) and then pray. Does "Yes/No/(Wait (Maybe - Try Again Later)" apply in that case? There are people who will claim it does, so when you understand why you think they are all wrong, you will understand why you are wrong in your assertion that "Yes/no/maybe:try-again" is in any way a valid point proving that "praying" for "wants" works.

*yes, I know there are basically two types of prayers, "wants" and "thanks"... we are of course talking about "wants" prayers

Fair point. On the other hand, not getting a "Yes" answer to all prayers does not prove God doesn't exist/prayer doesn't work.

I would imagine that most Christians have plenty of verifiable results to satisfy themselves. I know I do.

If you TRULY have VERIFIABLE results to show from prayer, James Randi will happily hand you one million dollars. No BS.

For years now, anyone who can prove any kind of supernatural ability - and praying for something and having it come true counts - has been free to collect the money. So far, no one's even come close.

There's no true magic or miracles in this world. Not even in WDW, just a lot of people working hard to make you happy. Life is, IMHO, far more entertaining and fulfilling when you can appreciate the wonders of nature and science (that was part of the point of Epcot, actually!) instead of assuming that there's some cosmic puppeteer who apparently thinks that crime, corruption, poverty, war, and countless warring religions are how he wants his world to be run.

Anyway, feel free to do all the praying you want if it makes you feel better, but don't expect any results beyond making yourself feel good. Me, I'll file it next to astrology and tarot cards and remote viewing and other such things - they all have the same level of success.

I've tried praying to the toenail on my little-bitty toe. it's gets the same result as praying to anything or anyone else.

my little toenail does work in mysterious ways, though. it'll give me a sign when it's ready to.

until then, I'll just devote my entire life into that faith and never waiver. I'll justify everything based on that belief as well. it's all good, I've got a book to back up my claims. :)

I think we're going in circles...

Only person who needs proof is me. I'm good with my decision.

I disagree. I guess we all live by faith, don't we?

It does, & I will. Success? God hears all my prayers (& answers every one of them!).

If James Randi offered to give a million dollars to someone who had verifiable results to show that prayer didnt work, no one would be collecting that money either.

God has proven to me and many others over and over again that prayer does work and that he listens and he always anwers. We may not always get the exact thing we asked for but we always get whats best for us.

God sees the whole picture, we dont.He knows what it is that we really need. Were like little kids who want to run out and play in the street and hes the parent who sees the car coming,or the 2 year old wanting to play with matches, not knowing what the outcome will be.He knows what will happen if he says yes and what will happen if he says no and he gives us the answer that is the best for us.

Sometimes He will say no but then give us something better instead. Sometimes we have to go through hard times but he carries us through them.

Of course prayer works for those that believe in it. It's not like they put any real meat behind what is the result of prayer and not.

if you were born and raised in a bubble, never hearing of religion since your brain was as soft as pudding...one day you go into a Barnes and Noble and pick up a Bible and start reading it.

wouldn't your brain shut down after the first page? no one in their right mind could find the book plausible.

Ok, sorry. I reread and am still missing it. I think it went over my head. :teeth: Maybe someone will post something to make me have a "aha" moment. :rotfl:

they'd have to be a 500 year old guy with a ship that could contain two of every animal on earth that could reproduce without genetic relapse. :)

it's all impossible.

Matthew 19:25-27

26But Jesus beheld them, and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.

Genetics only matter with evolution. Since there is not evolution and we were all Intelligently Designed, two of each kind would be plenty.

Lets have a fun tangent.

Is it not possible that ID(a creator) and Evolution can go hand in hand.

Hmmmm. Well, all things are possible with God.It is possible that God chose evolution to create us in His image.

I personally dont believe that we came from monkeys or anything else but I do think that humans may have slightly evolved over time to adapt to our enviroment.
