What's with the Jesus skywriting?

Yeah but just as there are peeps out there like you that don't want to hear any of it, there also are peeps out there that are desperately searching for answers or a meaning in their life, in which case they may be very interested in it. Just because you're not currently in the market for a new TV and don't want to hear any "sales" pitches, doesn't mean the next person feels like you do, in which case they may welcome it.

If I wanted a new tv, don't you think I'd be walking into a tv store (read Church), and not wandering around Disney?

I would guess the majority of people are very happy where they are, with those that might be "looking" a small minority. So you'd be annoying a lot of people (or at least those that don't alread share your belief) on the off chance you might hit someone that wants to listen to you? I dunno...

Just as most non-Christians can do without your pity and condescension that we need to be saved or informed.

See how that works?

I don't think you'll find any such inference in my posts here. :confused3

Yeah its called advertising. I'm sick of the Geico Ghecko too, but that's what advertising is all about. I'm a Christian, but I personally don't "advertise" it. But I don't say anything about others that do. I do see your earlier points on it being WDW kind of a neutral ground and such though.

These are more of general statements then comments really directed at a single person.

Not being disrespectful, but if one truly honors free speech, and one is offended on a deep level by teh skywriting in Florida, maybe that person should stay out of Florida. :confused3 If someone was writing something in the sky that offended or frightened me that's what I would probably do. By doing so my I could make an economic statement that, if carried far enough, could bring about change thru legislation. So maybe those who are deeply offended or frightened by the skywriting could consider organizing a boycott of WDW. Just a thought. :confused3

ETA: This modest proposal applies only to visitors from outside the region. You locals will have to keep thinking. :teeth:

Those messages bother me, but so would "Praise Allah" or "Smart people are atheists." WDW is not a place to advertise any religion or lack of it. What he is doing is not illegal per current laws, but I find it annoying and disrespectful even if he is doing out of love and with all of the best intentions.

This one is a little weird:

I think this horse has officially been beaten to death. I kicked it a few times just to make sure and it didn't budge.

Oh, I was just kidding b/c someone else posted something about refillable mugs and pool hopping as a joke.

After a one or two trips behind the handlebar, one becomes a "Stroller Mate" pirate:

I would say I'm now up to "Stroller Bosun," able to know when and where to anchor the vessel and keep the cordage and rigging straight.

One day I hope to make "Stroller Admiral" and be able to lead multiple strollers into and out of any park port with nary a lashed ankle, even into the reef-ridden bays like the area around Splash Mountain when crowded with landlubbers and stroller apprentice seamen training with their flimsy "umbrella stroller" dinghys ... although I'll never stroller sail the MK in July

A real Christian does not vandalize, harrass, or any other violent type of act you've described.
Agree! :thumbsup2

The world would have been a much more peaceful place without all these belief systems.
Have to admit that I have wondered about this myself sometime.

Since this post has nothing to do with planning a trip to WDW, I'm going to move it to the Community Board.

When I lived in Boca Raton, there was a man that did the exact same thing quite frequently. He died within the past couple years. Maybe it's a friend of his doing it. :)

Or maybe it is his spirit! It might be a ghost-flyer that God allowed to go forth and spread the word!!! :)

I have only posted three times on this thread. I tried to avoid posting anything other than light remarks. I checked this morning to see what I missed yesterday afternoon and overnight. Something that was written by another poster here (I think carries) made me feel that I needed to post something.

My DDs play soccer. At the end of the season party last May, my youngest DD's coach threw a party for the players and their families. The kids were able to eat and then swim. During the time that the kids were swimming the parents were able to talk and visit with each other and the coach. During this visiting time we got into a fairly deep conversation with the coach. When he found out that DH and I were Christians, (We didn't force feed him our faith. We didn't witness to him. I am sure that we just casually mentioned God in our conversation.) he told us a story about his life. He told us that about 6 years ago his DW and he were in separation and he had moved out of his house. He was missing his wife and kids. He was feeling alone in the world. (He wasn't in rehab, prison, recovering alcoholic or drug addict.) He said that he went to a fast food restaurant drive through one day and a dollar bill that he was handed as change caught his eye. Someone had written "Jesus loves you" on the dollar bill. He said at that moment God got his attention. He knew that God was reaching out to him to let him know that he was not alone. He said that he felt that was the turning point in his life. He ended up going to a local church (Christian Bible-believing) and learned more about Jesus. I will not go on except to say that God did a marvelous work in this guy's life. He is now a Christian and working with kids. He and his wife reconciled. He has his family back. He is telling others what God did in his life. As a matter of fact, he kept that dollar bill to remind him of what God has done. He pulled it out of his wallet and showed us!
So I say all of that to make a point that we never know who needs that message. This coach needed it. His life was changed for the better. I believe that is what the skywriter is doing. He is trying to help that one.
It also reminds me of another story:
The Starfish Story

There was a man who lived along the ocean. One morning, at about 5:00 a.m. when he could sleep no longer, he decided to take a walk along the beach. It was a foggy morning, and the first rays of sunlight were slipping above the horizon. The man enjoyed the walk. It was as if the beach belonged to him. He glanced down on the beach and saw a figure that seemed to be dancing. He wondered why anyone would be on the beach so early; his curiosity caused him to quicken his pace. As he drew nearer, he realized that the figure was that of a young man, and he wasn’t dancing – he was throwing something into the water. As he drew very close, he realized that the young man was picking starfish off the beach and was tossing them back into the water.

“Why are you throwing starfish into the water?”

“The tide is going out, the sun is rising, and the starfish that are left on the beach will surely die,” said the young man, continuing on his task.

“But that’s such a waste of time and energy! There are so many starfish, and there are miles and miles of beach. What difference does it make?”

The young man thought for a moment. He reached down to pick up a starfish and said, “It makes a difference….to this one."

Sure, you may not believe it, you may not need it. However, someone else may.

TLHB70, thanks for starting my day on such a positive note! I especially like the starfish story. I think it reminds all of us that no matter what religious beliefs we hold or do not hold, we all still have the power to do good and make a difference in this world. :daisy:

Why can't you give credit to the man for improving his own life? Why can't he? He did the work. He worked with kids. He worked in the community. He found the strength in himself to do this. He gets the credit. Unless there was a burning bush or something giving him instructions, he improved his own life, imo.

I don't know anything about it :confused3 - but we also saw this on our WDW trip in September
