What's with the Jesus skywriting?

While I think this guy has every right to do what he does by writing these messages in the sky, I also have the right to believe it's incredibly tacky. Does he think that I am going to see that in the sky and suddenly want to be saved? All I am going to think is that it's a shame he's wasting his money on that and not on helping the needy.

On the subject of asking God to fix the wrongs in your life and how prayer answers your troubles (eventually I assume since according to one post you may have to wait..lol)..

I think prayer is all good and fine if that is what you believe. I'm a Christian, even though my "level" of Christianity would be certainly questioned by some on this thread. I believe in God. Am I angry at why some things turned out the way they did - like watching my wife suffer on a daily basis knowing that she will never have a pain free day again? Hell, yeah. But we are not going to sit on our butts and wait for God to answer a prayer to make our life better. As far as I am concerned, God helps those who help themselves.

I can understand what your saying and why you think what you do. I was there at one time myself. After having multiple miscarriages I was so angry at God. Especially when I heard stories of people aborting theirs, or leaving them in dumpsters, etc. I would have taken in those babies in a heart beat! I couldn't believe that my God would let this happen to me repeatedly. Then a friend pointed out the story of a father in Mark 9:14-25. That certainly helped me overcome my situation.

There's also mention that God wants to fulfill our hearts desire if it's according to His will. I'll tell you I am very content with my life and feel very fulfilled. Of course I could want more, but I have absolutely everything I need and then some. (0h, by the way, I am in constant pain every day myself.)

As for God helping those who help themselves, there is no mention of this concept in the Bible.

I am so sorry your wife is in pain. Very often God waits to allow us to do what we can do. He still cares. Sometimes we have to go through things in this life, just because we are human! We are so impatient with God when He does not answer the way we want or when we want. I will pray for your wife, not because I have a special connection with God, but because I know He cares about her situation. You remarked about your level of Christianity, we are all on the same plain "down here"! He still wants to help you through the situations you are in. He loves you just as much as He loves anyone. He will use situations in our lives to bring us closer to Him. He knows what is important to us. Sometimes it seems He is just sitting up there and dispensing bad things, ruling with an iron fist! That really is not a totally accurate picture of God. He loves us, and disicplines us with love, as a parent would a child. He is patient and kind and good. Yes, He is powerful but at the same time gentle. He will not intrude where He is not wanted. Thanks for all of your hard work on these forums. I appreciate it.

I personally have found some comments here made towards Christians just as insulting in just the same way you find the skywriting insulting. To me, insulting Christians by saying some imaginary deity is my friend is just as insulting as some prostylizing Christian to some of you all. You may not think it, but you are telling me I am wrong, and you are right. Sound familiar.

Actually the most insulting thing going on on this thread is the continued witnessing by people who have been told it's not welcome.

But as usual, when Christians look back on this thread they will talk about how rude people were in this thread and leave out the rudeness that started it, and the many rude Christians that kept it going.

You realize that there is no federal law to prevent gay people from being fired from their jobs ,right? Minorities have the protection from that,as do religions, the disabled etc,but not gay people..You can be fired in this country simply for being gay.. Someone can refuse to hire you just because you are gay.

There is also no law to prevent a white heterosexual male in their 30s from being fired either, most states have employment at will laws meaning that they can fire anyone for almost anything at anytime, but you don't see me complaining and whining that I'm discriminated against do you?

We were there last week and he was out. It is really visible from the water parks and Epcot! Have a great trip!

As for the whole "alternative lifestyle" choice of words. First off, I'm not anti-gay at all. I find it interesting because I used that choice of words now all of a sudden you peeps are going to make fun of me if I mention that I do have gay friends. Its ok for you guys to have gay friends just not me. Ummm. And as a matter of fact. I would consider a lot of lifestyles "alternative" including my own. Even though I am straight. Its not a knock. It just describes something that is somewhat out of the "norm" and I'm not going to get into a debate about what is normal and what is not. I am not normal. I am very different. But I'm not going to "freak" out if someone says that I lead an alternative lifestyle. You peeps have wayyyyyyy to much time on your hands.
