What's with all the trash?

I'm sending an email to member services suggesting they roll dumpsters into the hallway every 50 feet. This way, there will always be one handy and we can all just turn sideways to squeeze past them as we walk down the hallway. ;) ;)

A mention at check-in would be nice, but why not also do something to remind folks once in the room? It would be pretty simple to put a sticker on the trash cans in the rooms indicating that trash rooms were available on each floor, or next to a certain room. They could just print up enough for every kitchen trash can and have housekeeping put them on as they clean each room. Then it would be hidden from sight, but obvious when taking the bag out of the trash.

Housekeeping should also have a note to slip under doors saying "Lazybutt there's a trash room---use it".

Rich,

This sounds like something you could do on your next trip! Heck, I think I will print them up as well for my Christmas trip and pay my kids in Disney Dollars to go put them out.

I couldn't agree more. They have (or at least they had on my last visit) little cards explaining Disney's 'Environmentality' about how they recycle and conserve. Why not a little card reminding people in the DVC's with inside hallways where to dispose of their garbage. They probably wouldn't even need to do it at OKW. The garbage cans are outside and I have yet to see someone stacking garbage by their doors. You always walk by at least one when you go to your cars, so you don't miss them.

I too have notced a lot of trash in the hallway on our last visit, and like Rich, I was very tempted to let the folks know my feelings about it. Luckily, my wife kept me in check.

Another advantage of OKW.

I've seen it at OKW. One of the two times that I stacked garbage against the door was at OKW.

Wow, you almost 'trip' over the garbage cans at OKW.. There is no way anyone could claim, "I didn't know where to put it" there. Inexcusable.

Last time we stayed at VWL, the housekeeping staff forgot to remove our trash on trash and towel day. I called housekeeping to have them pick it up and they TOLD us just to leave it outside of our door. We could have walked it down to the trash room, but housekeeping didn't mention that as an option, and we didn't know it existed!
Sounds like a housekeeping shortcoming and lack of information more than people just being slobby.

Are you seriously equating leaving your garbage at the curb on pick up day with leaving garbage in the hallways of a deluxe resort that has no plans to pick up your garbage?

Must be a liberal....

Question is, just out of curiosity, is he correct? Do your political views lean left more than right?

Doesn't matter, just wondered.....

Our first DVC trip was WLV and I had no idea there were trash rooms. But one call to Mousekeeping fixed that. That said a simple card in the room would probably solve alot of these problems.

We also saw trash bags being left out during our stay at BCV during the winter. Seemed to me that it was the same villa each am. It should be treated like a condo and fines should be implemented. Maybe then it would stop.:D

For those who leave their trash in the hallways, you better look out for:

He is known to lurk these boards and roam the DVC hallways.

From a recent the poll it looks like there is no need to be considerate of other members, looks like that applies to trashy halls too-

As long as I get want I want and make as much profit as possible in my commercial DVC rental business on e-bay, why should I care whether or not it harms anyone else or other DVC members? Guess I'll just start leaving my bags of trash in the hallways next to other's doors (why should I close the bags?), dumping my garbage in the landscaping, having huge loud screeming aurguments in public places with my spouse throwing a few things, removing people's belongings from pool chairs when they aren't looking, trashing the facilities, playing loud music late at night, leaving my glass beer bottles laying around walkways and near/in the pool, throwing my cigarette butts on walkways and in flowerpots, cutting in lines, demanding everything first before others when aurguing with CMs, send all the food back soley to try to get free meals, hang my confederate flag from the balcony next to my stained undies, being rude to people I pass, speak lots of profanity near other people's children, pee in the pool and hot tub (more often), and stinking up non-smoking rooms with lots of smoke smells. The majority 62% thinks members have no obligation to be considerate of other members. Why should trash in the halls be any different. ....Now it can be more like home (well, not my home, apparently others)....

Never too old to learn new things.....

I think they should put a notice on the inside of the door saying the nearest trash room is next to room xxx. I know at BWV, when you walk down the hallway there is a sign pointing to the trash room but if you are at the beginning of the hall you may not see it. I honestly think that some people are just not aware of what they are supposed to do. I've never seen anything in the check-in literature at either OKW or BWV with instructions on this. The first time we stayed at OKW, we put our garbage in the regular trash can on the way to the car (which was overflowing, we weren't the only ones), we didn't know about the special dumpsters in the closets.

I think I called housekeeping or the front desk on my first trip to find out where to put excess trash. I always wondered how anyone made it to trash and tity day. At vero if you take the elevator ride all the way to garage parking there is recycling dumpsters. I think that each building might also have a closet or small dumpster which is always to full.

Front desk should inform guest at check-in when they mention cleaning day.

Regarding the trash in the halls. I wonder if this is from DVC'rs or from rental/cash paid guests. Maybe they do not know the rules?
It would be Disney personnel to inform them of these rules and that they do not get cleaning services each day.

We usually do not have that much trash that we need to set out our trash if we can't walk it down to the trash room then it stays in our room until T & T day. and besides I don't want Rich spying to see what we have in our trash we might have something in there that he shouldn't see!!.(he will be there when we are) It is our Trash not yours Rich!!! LOL!!
