What's the Strangest Place You've Visited?

Years ago when I was vacationing in Jamaica we drove past a lake that was as orange as an orange!!! Our tour guide said it was because there was a lot of bauxite in the lake. It was pretty.....but strange.

Also, in Jamaica, there was this area that I think (memory starts to fail here with age:rolleyes: ) was called Fern Gully. It was suddenly like being thrown in the middle of a rain forest. It was near Ocho Rios I would love to see it now.

Whoa, I remember this! It was really weird :)

You just brought back some memories for me, I remember going to a Flinstone Park way back when, I don't think it was in Arizona though, must be another one out there. It was complete with their homes. As a kid I thought it was the coolest place ever. Strange....

JetMom, I also remember seeing the top of the farmer's house in the sand because the (mica?/sand) overtook it.

My DH also reminded me of the caves we saw on the island of Aruba. That was definitely a surreal creepy feeling. It was just my DH and I without flashlights. We didn't venture too far into this cave but it had large rock formations from the top to the floor of the cave. They looked like columns. Felt like being in another planet.

At the entrance of another cave, a mother and her son had a stand with flashlights you could rent. He volunteered to give us a tour (lol...this tiny little boy asking me if I was afraid because he wasn't) At some point, I decided not to go any further. My husband continued and the little boy showed him a bat colony deep inside the cave. The place totally creeped me out!

As if one Flintstone park isn't enough...LOL. I read that there is one in South Dakota. It seems like I remember hearing about one in England too. That might not be right though.

Funny about the death rattle characters! I had forgotten about that but remember now. Oh and the "theater" had a huge screen and some benches to sit on. They played non-stop Flintstones cartoons, but not on the big screen. There was a 19 inch TV mounted on the wall.

A coal mine in the north of France. What should have been a one hour tour ended up being three hour tour because people kept asking questions. Of course my DH and FIL were thrilled, I wanted to run. If I had run I would have ended up in the middle of a farm - there was NOTHING! I had this machine thingy that I wore to translate, but it only covered the first hour of the tour..........

:scared: :space:

I can't remember the name of this place but it is near St. Louis. Many years ago it was a mine but has since filled up with water-- perfectly clear water. Everything is still in the mine as it was when the miners were there. It is really unusual and you can scuba dive there!

Bonne Terre Mine?

I live about 20 miles north of there, and have never been...maybe I should go check it out. :)

That's the one! You should go there if you live so close. It was interesting.
