What's the problem with my cd?

I burned a cd for my mom of some pics of my kids. I could view them when I made the cd, I could view them on her computer. I had some technical difficulties (my computer and I had some harsh words:o;) ). I've gotten the technical difficulties taken care of now. She wanted me to add more pics to the cd from the holidays. I put the cd in and wanted to view what was there (because I forgot exactly what pics I put on the cd:o ). Now I can't view anything. It says my device isn't ready. It'll play any other cd just fine (including a cd of pics I burned for my dd). But not this one. She can view it on her computer, but she doesn't have a cd burner. She's adament about wanting the pics on the same cd (Mothers! They love to drive us batty.;) ).

Does anyone know what the heck is wrong with this cd? Or how I can get it to open?

I am a computer dummy! Good luck though!

This is what I'd use....

Even if you do get it open you probably won't be able to do what you're trying to do.:(

When you burn a CD to be read by other machines you have to close the session and essentially close the disc from further editing.

You'll have to burn a new disc with what you want on it.

I did close it. I burned the cd last summer on my computer and I gave it to my mom a few days later and she could see it fine on her computer. She gave it back to me to add more pics, but now I can't view anything on the cd, it keeps telling me the device isn't ready. It was burned on my computer, now I can't view it on mine, but I can on hers.

Goofy, nope. I tried the can opener on it too and it didn't help.;)

Hi Ellen.

I guess I wasn't being that clear. Sorry! My point was that once you've closed it, you can't put anymore onto it. If your mother wants more pictures you'll have to burn a new CD.

I have had trouble reading CDs before that I burned. Don't really know why and didn't try to troubleshoot it because I have a second reader on my 'puter that didn't seem to have that trouble.

Kirk, I can't even view anything on that cd now. Everytime I go to open it to view what's on there, it tells me the device isn't ready. I haven't gotten a chance to burn anything yet. I wanted to see what was on there first.

LOL! Gail, I'll try that. That might work.;)

Green is a favorite here.......should be fine in your house too!!

Browneyes,

Some drives are more sensitive than others at reading a CD if there's any problem whatsoever. Look and make sure there is not a scratch, smudge or even a fingerprint. If there is try to clean it with a soft lense cloth.
