What's the point?

I like the CB. Not only can I find info about Disney, you can post a thread about almost anything and get answers from people that have real knowledge. I would not want anything changed here. If I don't like the subject, I am free to ignore the thread or post my opinions.

I have learned many things here and although I don't post a lot, I consider this a great community. :cheer2:

I totally agree, especially with "you can post a thread about almost anything and get answers from people that have real knowledge."

I can spend hours researching stuff on the web, reading travel books, etc., but nothing beats first-hand information from people who have been there and done that so to speak. :)

I also agree with ignoring threads that really don't interest me. There are certain threads and certain posters who get on my last nerve, but I try hard to just let it go. Sometimes it isn't worth it to post an opinion.

I enjoy the CB the way it is, particularly since the recent addition of the new sub-forums. It is a great way to participate in a discussion, or get advice on pretty much anything.

I also agree with this. :)

I think OP enjoys :stir: and this thread is a great example of that. ;)

Wait!!! There's supposed to be a point to the CB??? :lmao: :lmao: :lmao:

I think the point is to drag us away from only fixating about about character meals and codes for good rates at resorts for a few minutes....and that doesn't even always work! :)

Why would you complain about the mods allowing political posts when you have posted some of your own? If you truly thought they were inappropriate, why would you join in?

Bravo. Well said. I also believe that the word epeen shouldn't be on a Disney board. If you click the link it takes you to the defintion. I certainly don't want my 9 year old using that word. That's not EXACTLY a Disney friendly word.

I like the CB exactly as it is. I don't post much, but I lurk a lot. When you want information or an opinion quickly, this is a great place to get it.

I work on the computer all day long, and this is my "break" during the day. Things are rarely boring around here, that's for sure.

Plus, while I like Disney, if that's all we talked about all day long, we'd be pretty boring. Life entails a lot more than The Mouse (please don't hurt me for saying that! :) ). There are other subforums around here with more of a 24/7 Disney focus. That's not what THIS one is meant to be, at least in my opinion. So, OP, if this one bothers you so much, you DO have other options. Or just don't read the posts that don't interest you here. Seems like an easy fix.

I'm with the rest who think the CB is just fine the way it is. Even those of us who love/live/breathe Disney can have other interests, and that's what the CB is for. I love to discuss things and learn other people's points of view. When I'm passionate about a subject, I may try to change someone's mind, but I don't consider it a "win" if it happens or a "loss" if it doesn't. :rolleyes2 It's just an interesting discussion, and anyone who finds it uninteresting or offensive doesn't have to click on it.

Believe it or not, I actually understand where you're coming from. Before coming to the DIS, I mostly hung out on a couple of debate-friendly sites, where anything goes. The DIS seemed way too "nice". :rotfl2: But you know what? I understood that I was coming into an established community and I was the one who needed to get used to it. If you don't want to, you have lots of options, but trying to change a well-loved, established community to suit your personal needs isn't one of them.

For the life of me I can not understand why the Admin(s?) of these forums permit folks to discuss volatile subjects such as politics, religion, sexual orientation, etc. It's a Disney forum for crying out loud. Why do most folks love going to Disney so much? To escape all this everyday BS for a little while and have a little fun. Why then would/should it be any different here?

For the life of me I'll never understand why folks will endlessly debate a subject (political or otherwise) on forums such as these. No one is going to change anyone else's mind, political affiliation, sexual orientation, views on crock pot bearing, etc. Why must we have to epeen; there really is no way to "win".

I'm calling for the Admin(s?) of these forums to bring the focus of this community back to what we're all really here for: The love of all things Disney, and then work to keep it that way.

Thanks. I'll shoosh now.

Well considering I have been Dising alot longer than you, I'd have to say you do not know what your talking about. If your a mod on your own board...great! Run it the way you want to and change it to fit your taste.

I happen to like the CB the way it is. I do not read every thread/posts but I do enjoy the CB. As your post mentions, coming to the CB does get me away from everyday real life for a few minutes of fun. Why are you suggesting to take away MY fun?

Isn't the community board for discussing all things not related to disney?? We can't get rid of those other threads that cause debates they are so entertaining!

OP, not only do you clearly enjoy stirring the pot on the CB, but you also did so on the g/l board by visiting there and then stating you felt that homosexuality was abnormal. And when you were called on your actions, you started complaining about being ganged up on. What? You go to a board, insult the members and they come to their own defense and you have the nerve to complain???? :rotfl:

Are you kidding me?

It's obvious from this post, the recent snide little comment you made on the liberal thread, the g/l board and on several other innoccuous threads that your goal is to stir the pot and cause problems.

If you like the way your own board is run, good for you! I strongly advise you to stay over there and not hassle the folks here who enjoy things the way they are.

Ooooo... tough words from the big gay man why likes to dish it out and can't take it in return (errr... nevermind...gross). I tried to engage in a civil debate with a few of you and you all proved my point for me. I said I'd never be back there, and I never will.

I rest my case.

Fixated much?

ETA: Why are you only addressing my comments? Have any issues to discuss? Address everyone else's comments as well.

I find nothing civil about this last post of yours, OP..........................in fact, it has quite a "nasty" tone, while RickinNYC's post was quite civil. You started this thread, now WHO can't take opposing opinions?

You did not try to engage in a civil debate, you tried stirring the pot, and tried insulting different groups of current Disboards members. And nice personal attack on Rick as well. I agree with other posters, if 'your' board is so wonderful and perfect, and we clearly do not measure up to your standards, then perhaps you are better off staying there.

I can take opposing opinions. I just read 3 pages of them. What are you talking about? I simply relayed something from my personal experiences that didn't work for US and how we fixed it. Seems simple enough to me. Some folks on this forum could find it easy enough to get into a flame match with someone over a lollipop.

Do you honestly think I care? Do think my feelings are hurt or that I'm upset or something. Hell no. Why should I be? I say what I like. And if the mods don't like it, they can warn me and I'll tone it down (at least the respectable ones). Easy enough.

So why did you use it on a Disney board and bold it?

I simply made a suggestion. Love how some folks get all defensive, quite entertaining. The forums I run have nothing to do with Disney, and I'm a Disney fan. So I post there, and here. Problem?
