Whats the point of MGM big HAT?

At first when I saw photos of the castle decorated for the Happiest Celebration on Earth, I didn't like them. Now that I've been to WDW and seen the castle all decorated I couldn't imagine it any other way. I do hate that big mirror on the front and all of the characters on the castle are sort of overkill, but I can't imagine looking up at the castle and not seeing Peter Pan flying around the turret.

i am always amazed whenever the "get rid of the hat" thread starts up again. i can understand the WDW fans who really enjoy the "classic" look of WDW. i am one who also enjoys the classic side of WDW. i can understand why everyone feels that the hat sort of doesnt fit or actually ruins the feel of the area in front of TGMR.

i do love the hat. whenever i enter into a WDW park i dont really start to get excited until i see the individual park icon. when i see the park icons it just gives me a great feeling. the castle, SSE, the tree of life. i get the same feeling whenever i see the hat. the mouse ears water tower just doesnt do it for me.

i have taken some great pictures over the years at MGM with the hat as the focal point. i have a great picture of my family next to me that we had taken in front of the hat.i have also taken some excellent photos in front of TGMR also. IMHO i cannot see MGM without the hat.

At Mk i did enjoy what they did to the castle for the annversary but the castle is something that should never be permanently changed. to me the castle is WDW. changing the castle permanently is like painting the empire state building red or the eifel tower yellow. so while the new decorations on the castle are nice they should be removed when the celebration is over.

At SSE the wand really could go. i am a bit indefferent as to if it should stay. but the leave a legacy tombs really are an eyesore and to me symbolizes coperate greed.
