Haven't been on a coster in 20 years and always wondered when I am on the log flume at 6 flags just what is keeping me from falling out (no bar, no strap just a thin on the side of me:confused: ). So is thunder moutain really "nothing". Is splash mountain so much fun that everyone loves it even scardy cats like me? I 've decided to avoiid Mission Space and that Alien I'm on fire ride. Opinions please from others who have been scared and were pleasantly surprised. Oh and don't forget TT.

Hmmm. You pose an interesting question.....

Big Thunder Mountain and Space Mountain are, what we consider the lesser of the coasters around the world. Awesome yes, but in a lesser league than Rock 'n' Rollercoaster and Mission Space.

However!

BTMRR and SM have less in the way of restraints (probably why we think of them as "easier" because they require less. They have lap bars. RNR and MS strap you in much much more. These pin you in with over the head and sholders, cant-t move your ehad too much, handles included contraptions. Maybe you'd feel safer?

But as our son grew, he did BTMRR, then SM, then RNR and MS.

I would have to say Splash Mountain. It is such a cute ride with a small drop in the middle and then a big drop at the end. It is slightly scary but just scream and that lets out the tension......A BIG SCREAM.....That always works for me...:scared: :faint:

Splash mountain is tame..it only looks scary...but i gotta say.you should try mission space..it really is an awesome ride..the best ride in all the world...

My 4 year old really likes Goofy's Barnstormer :teeth:

I would definitely not call M:S a scary ride. The launch sequence is rather intense as far as pressure on your body, but it isn't scary at all.

Space Mountain has a lot of dips and turns which catch you by surprise since you are in the dark and don't really see them coming.

Big Thunder is just all around fun. Unless you are really terrified of coasters, that's a great one. No huge drop. Just a lot of smaller ups and downs and a great view.

Splash Mountain only has the one main drop. That is a fairly good drop but the rest of the trip is calm and really ashame to miss.

And one that a lot of folks forget - Pirates has a drop much larger than people expect.

Rockin Rollercoaster is a whole different ballgame. You really need to be a coaster fan to tackle that one. Of course, my DD8 did it for the first time last trip and can't wait to get back this year to ride it a couple more times.

ms not scarey at all but fun

btmrr not scarey to me except if think how that guy got killed at disney land then more creepy. better fun at night.but very tame as coasters go since there are ups and downs but not hills where you are 100 ft in the are with nothing around you

rnr very funnnnnnnnn ! hurt my back( old injury) unfortunatly bad enough i couldn't walk the next day so i don't know if i ought to ride it next time. :( ( why can't i revert to 20 yrs when i go to wdw??)

sp m "fun" scarey till my lap restraint opened last time mid ride now think i'll be afraid to ride next time. never happend before but now it probably will make me not want to ride since it seemed latched when we left the station so i'll worry the entire time.

splm not scary although the big hill always looks bigger than i remembered when we are on top of it!

tot my all time favorite scarey type ride YahOOO!

It depends on what scary is to you. I don't like drops so one time on Splash Mtn. was enough for me. (I even dread the drop in PoC.) However, my DH & 2-6 yr old DSs love it.

I loved M:S & my DSs liked it too, but my DH - no way - he gets motion sickness and doesn't do any simulator rides.

Two of our family's favorite rides are BTMRR & TT - they are just right for us!

We haven't been near ToT or RRC but with all the stuff I hear about ToT, I may just experience the line on our next visit - especially if my DH will go with my DSs.

Thuder Mountain - is it just up and down or are there some sideway things going on (I hate that).

I don't do coasters either, but I do ride Splash Mountain because the drop at the end is over is no time. I still don't like the drop, but I can put up with it for that small amount of time.
Space Mountain - Rode it once - never again!
Test Track - Rode it once - never again!
Thunder Mountain - The last time I rode this ride, I sat in the last seat. It was terrible & I have not been on it since. I don't like the turns.

I am a total wimp when it comes to rollercoasters, but I love all of the coasters at Disney World. My big fear is the first big hill (excessive fear of heights) and none of the coasters have that.

Big Thunder Mountain is actually pretty tame. The first hill turns around a corner, so doesn't seem too big. It never really gets going really fast. It does jerk you around a bit, so if you prefer a smoother ride, you might not like it.

Space Mountain is also pretty tame for a coaster. I think the darkness and jerkiness are what turn some people off. I like the dark because then I can't see how high I am!

The Rockin' Rollercoaster is my favorite. The corkscrews and loop are a blast and it doesn't have to rely on a huge first hill because of the unique propulsion system. It is extremely smooth, no jerkiness. The hardest part is the take-off. I get nervous every time I stand in that line watching the cars take off. It accelerates so fast that it looks unnatural! I've found the best way to deal with the g forces of the take off is to scream as loud as I can all the way down the tunnel. I think expelling all of that air helps to alleviate the wierd feeling you get in your chest when you are subject to those kind of g forces.

I've only been on Splash Mountain once and I hated it. Again, that is from my fear of heights, so if heights don't bother you, it should be fine. I'm thinking of going on it again this summer, though. I was so nervous about the last hill on Splash Mountain that I didn't stop to enjoy the rest of the ride. Now that I know when the drop is coming, I think I might enjoy it more.

Hope that helps!

I've been on this ride many a time, but exactly how big IS that drop on Pirates? 15 feet or so? Anybody know? Just curious...
